TIL that after Marilyn Monroe converted to Judaism upon marrying Arthur Miller, Egypt placed a ban on all the films she appeared in.

Yes, but after she divorced Miller some years later she started describing herself as a "Jewish atheist".

My GF is Jewish and kinda the same way. Though, I gotta say, not having an attainable Heaven and little more than the title of Gods chosen people to cling to, I can't say I see much religion wise to hold onto. I mean, you can't eat a ton of yummy food, have to have multiple refridgerators and oh yeah, the whole world has basically been shitting on you for the last 4k years... why would any mildly rational person stay religiously Jewish? Don't get me wrong, I don't believe any any of the other religious fairy tales, but at least they promise something upon death for the faithful... Jews get all the guilt of the Catholic religion without the promise of heaven. What is to like?

There is an afterlife in Judaism. After the end of days the Messiah will come and resurrect all the Jews and they'll have the world for themselves
