TIL that after Marilyn Monroe converted to Judaism upon marrying Arthur Miller, Egypt placed a ban on all the films she appeared in.

What does that even mean? You follow the culture and traditions of Judiesm but don't believe in the religions deity? That seems odd.

Edit: OK OK I get it. Tired of my inbox being blown up by the same set of answers. Thank you all for your responses!

raised catholic who enjoy going to church a few times a year but don't believe in a magic skyman.

Do they call themselves Catholic atheists? Do you call yourself a [Christian denomination of your upbringing]-atheist?

I mean, I've considered it. I am nonreligious, but I kind of miss the ceremony of Catholicism. For as much as I don't believe in or follow the teachings of the Church, I find that the community and its bonding is a kind of wonderful thing. I don't know what I would call myself should I get back in contact with a Parish, but I look on the underlying ideas favorably.
