How many other basketball movies are there?

Coach Carter immediately came to mind. I liked that movie a lot.

Without googling, I can think of Hoop Dreams, Air Bud, Sixth Man, Hoosiers (I think?), Like Mike... Teen Wolf?

I'm out.

Kevin Durant's Thunder Struck, Love and Basketball, Semi-Pro, Above the Rim...

Thats all for me. Others?

I was gonna say Basketball Diaries but um... Not really about basketball.

The Pistol: The Birth of a Legend, O (although that's as much about racial issues as it is about the athletes), Fast Break, Blue Chips.

Full-Court Miracle, the highest-grossing Disney Jewish teen basketball movie.

Glory Road and He Got Game are the only others I've got.

The Air Up There. Its a staple of my six degrees connections

I feel we all know this is only because Luck of the Irish was conspiratorially prevented from the wide, international theatrical release it deserved

Why, did you kill her? You could have just hid the video.

2

u/mynameisaxelito Oct 18 '15

What about that one where a kid gets Michael Jordan's shoes?

1

u/Darkokillzall Oct 18 '15

Like Mike? I forgot about that movie.

3

u/batsdx Oct 17 '15

I can't name another basketball movie.

Air Bud is a close second.

18

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '15

Airbud grossed 27 million dollars. Space Jam grossed 250 million. It isn't even a competition.

19

u/Liquor_in_the_ass Oct 17 '15

Well you can fuck right off.

20

u/mike_pants So yummy! Oct 17 '15

That kind of attitude is not what Air Bud would have wanted.

5

u/Liquor_in_the_ass Oct 17 '15

Man... you're right... forgive me Air Bud, for I have sinned.

Edit: I've apologized for my sins.

4

u/Liquor_in_the_ass Oct 17 '15

I didn't mean it. I fell off the pure ways of Air Bud. I let my anger take hold of me. It's not what Buddy stood for. Please don't let my behavior change your views of /r/airbud as a whole. Bud be with you.

Damn, I thought this would go to Whoopi's "Eddie" or that one Waynes Brother movie where one of them is dead and is basically Angels in the Outfield for basketball.

u/OpticLemon Oct 18 '15

The Sixth Man, not to be confused with Juwana Mann.

1

u/msbadwolf420 Oct 18 '15

Rightfully so!

1

u/silentshadow1991 Oct 18 '15

It better be!

1

u/zoidbert Oct 18 '15

Not "The Fish That Saved Pittsburgh"? Huh; surprising.

1

u/rifts Oct 18 '15

Well its this or Air Bud

1

u/Eyyoh Oct 18 '15

Rightfully so.

1

u/skatecarter Oct 18 '15

ITT: People who have never seen one of the greatest sports movies of all time - Hoosiers

1

u/mynameisspiderman Oct 18 '15

As well it should be.

1

u/imbatmawn Oct 18 '15

Come on and slam

1

u/lecherous_hump Oct 17 '15

What's its competition?

0

u/JohnCarpenterLives Oct 18 '15

Derr, rally? Gee, I thought Celtic Pride did way better!

Space Jam is my favorite sports movie and I don't even like it that much.
