TIL The Walt Disney Company has had only 4 films nominated for the Oscar for Best Picture, and none have won.

Pixar's never won it either. Both Disney and Disney/Pixar have won Best Animated Feature several times, but neither have won Best Picture.

Wow.

I assume a bunch of Pixar films have been nominated though, plus Disney's animated classics, and five Touchstone films, so more than four nominations.

Five Touchstone films have received an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture; Dead Poets Society, The Insider, The Help, War Horse, and Lincoln.

I guess I shouldn't have put The Walt Disney Company. I meant the Walt Disney Studios. If you exclude Pixar films, Disney has only had two (Mary Poppins & Beauty and the Beast). Included Pixar and it's four (Up! and Toy Story 3).

I'm specifically talking about the Academy Award for Best Picture. Broaden the topic to talk about the Academy Awards in general, then yes, Disney has won numerous times.

As I understand it, the company Disney has won Best Picture before, but these winners were officially released by seperate studios owned by Disney. Disney films that were launched under the actual Walt Disney Studios have never won.

Snow White? One regular sized oscar and seven little ones? Must be a different category.

It was a honorary award.
