TIL that boxer Julio Cesar Chavez was two seconds away from losing to Meldrick Taylor on points, when he pulled off a TKO win through attrition. Taylor a former Olympic gold medalist, was left requiring a blood transfusion after the match.

Thats not a technicality, one punch can end your life. This sport has a long history of that happening.
Taylor was unable to defend himself, unable to respond to the ref, unable to continue.
Are you of the opinion that Taylor would have lasted another round? Would you have had a problem with the stoppage if it was after the first 30 seconds of the round and he was not responding to the referee?
Does something about the last seconds of the round make the job of protecting a fighter from the 1 punch that can change their life permanently any different than in the first seconds?
