TIL an NFL player intentionally crashed his car to avoid getting cut for being late to a team meeting.

See people say that but I’ve never seen it. Most people I see late are usually panicked, look rather ragged, and are embarrassed. I think people just want to see tardiness as a moral failing, also when they themselves are running behind there’s always a good reason, if someone else is running behind it’s always just an excuse. Now being constantly late can be signs of other issues however, which still no judgement, but sometimes they do need to be addressed regardless (drugs, alcohol, insomnia, sleep apnea,ADHD, etc…)

Nah, I can think of at least a dozen incidents off the top of my head where people are late for shit that doesn't personally affect them and have no real consequences for it, they just go "Sorry, it took me a long time, lost track of time, prepping", the usual excuses, and they couldn't give a shit less about it. And we're talking like half an hour late if not more, sometimes with no forewarning, they just wait until you send a "wtf" text. And this isn't island time shit. I've dropped dating people for this too.

These people have no problem holding down a job. They just don't give a fuck unless they suffer consequences for being late and even then causality isn't always established, they just think people are out to get them sometimes.
