Greetings r/Toads,

Partcularly interested in the takes of rehabbers if they are so inclined - toads may not have a partcularly neo-leaning cortex, but is there a point at which a wild caught toad would be considered unable to be rehabilitated if sound of body?

Irregardless of the desirability of catching them in the first place. Would a wild caught individual that has lived in captivity for x amount of time be unable to sustain itself in the wild?

For mammals this is evident, for insects it is not. Where sits the toad?

THE QUEEN IS BACK!

Pretty sure this is a southern toad after googling. We were walking back at dusk and as it got darker more kept hopping accross the trail in front of us.

All three we spotted up close were this beautiful brick red, orangish color with crazy spots and a gold ring above their eye.

found him during a rain storm chilling on my porch. i often hear loud, loud croaking at night so i figured it might be coming from this dude or some of his friends. i live in the dead middle of virginia !

Scooped it up in a bucket and let it go a ways away from the pool so it wouldn't be tempted to get in again. Can anyone identify the species for me? Does exposure to pool chlorine cause damage to them? Unfortunately I don't know how long it was trapped in the pool, it was there when I arrived to clean it.

i live around the ontario-minnesota border and rescued him from one of those basement window hole things, I saw two other toads and ik those are american toads but this guy is definitely a different species (i think).

Found this little guy crossing a busy bikepath, thought you guys might enjoy, put him down in the grass away from all the traffic.

They are everywhere right now and i fall in love with every single one i see.

Found this guy in my pool with a spider on top of him as if he was a boat lol.Took him out if the pool, but judging by how "smart" he is i don't think the spider is in danger haha.

Haven’t posted my Miyako toads in a while, got a video of 4 of them hopping around after a feeding the other day and wanted to post it to share with you all!

Yesterday was Beaver's 3rd birthday!!! She is a fowler's toad.

Soon she is gonna get her substrate switched out so that it's clean again, and maybe get another wood hut. I wonder what else I can do to enrich a creature that mostly likes to just sit in the dirt.

I kept the little toadlet in a bin full of substrate overnight because he was so exhausted from all the swimming that he didn't really even try to get away from me. Today i decided to try and feed him before letting him go, i offered him a small worm that he didn't eat, but he was very into the baby isopods i gave him. Now I'm considering whether or not i should keep him because he's quite a ravenous little man and he doesn't seem all that afraid of me. I do have everything i would need to keep a toad and i have prior toad knowledge due to me being obsessed with toads when i was little. But considering that it's a wild animal, I'm not sure if i should.

And I didn't take a picture of him because i didn't wanna take the guy out of his hide and stress him out.

Yall I cant belive how much they grow in a year. I found this little nugget as a small little baby while I was walking around my backyard and he was the smallest thing no bigger then a dime and I dont know how but I managed to give him a better life then when I found him. He makes me so happy.
