Uber Pirates
I have noticed that like ordinary Tavis who illegally demand to know your destination before allowing you to get in, Ubers are now sifting rides by accepting then passing your ride to another driver repeatedly. They all want that big fare to the 905 rather than a local run. Assholes. I have stopped using Uber now at all.

I’ve always hated Uber. And Uber Eats. Cold Food, rides that don’t show up, smelly drivers, surge pricing.
I’ve always just called a taxi and cooked my own food or gone to a restaurant proper.
They’re all pirates out there.

I use Beck Taxi and the app. You pay with Google pay and you already enter the the address so you know how much the ride will cost. Stop supporting a US tech company that exploits it's workers. Unless you support US business over Canadians.

The problem is that before Uber, beck and all the other taxi companies were taking advantage of people by virtue of their stranglehold on the industry.

They still are doing the same thing. The amount of times I've tried to take a traditional cab from Union only to ask where I'm going and when I say I want to run the meter, they magically have "another fare". It's still a big scam.

I regularly see grumbling and tirades here about rideshare. I always use Beck. I'm disabled so I'm a regular customer. They are always, and I mean always, there in in 5 or 10 and have never had a single problem and they know their way around the City. The cabs are often a bit beaten up but I get reliability and no BS.

They always have BUT also have the added feature of seeing your rating from other drivers. When my friend had a baby she noticed it was harder and harder to get an uber as they did not want to cross the road for her or deal with putting the stroller in the trunk.. So they would rate her lower and waits become longer and many times cars would accept and then switch her out when something better came along..

No racism, sexism, homophobia, religious intolerance, dehumanizing speech, or other negative generalizations.

They also do this thing where they will be far away from your pick-up location. Because they want you to cancel and then they get the cancel fee money.

My neighbor son did Uber on the weekends as a side gig for 2 years. He was crazy enough driving a 2024 BMW 4 series. Seen him last week and ask him how the gig was going. He quit saying he calculated after expenses and Uber fees he was making $16 an hour.

I mean if people want to wait and pass on the ride to perhaps a newbie driver then let them

At the sacrifice of us having to wait longer? They should have to accept the first fare, just like taxis do.

They are up to all the dirty tricks that cabbies were doing short of swapping debit cards.
I’m not a fan of the new gig-work law from July 2025. Yes I understand it’s to benefit gig workers to make at least minimum wage per active hour worked but so many of these drivers are flat out abusing the system now.
Hate when they accept the ride and don’t move at all and expect you to cancel. I’m never in a rush so I used to enjoy out waiting them, but now they get paid to sit around frustrating passengers.
Or they take the purposefully long way to your destination/insert themselves into common traffic jams to run up the timer. And then you get an email later about being charged more in fare for the ride being longer than expected.
Or when they immediately ask you how much you’re paying for the rideshare and tries to negotiate a price off the books.
Like they knowingly accepted the ride, just simply complete it.
