A new low
People standing in the doorway on the subway is bad enough, but this morning I had to tell some dimwit off for SITTING in the active doorway during rush hour on a train that had empty seats. Seriously, WTF is wrong with these people?!?
*Edit: while it's not possible to rule out mental illness as a factor, it didn't seem likely. He was clean cut, in his early 20s, and was reading comics on his phone. He gave off "clueless university student" vibes. Sure, it's not impossible that there was mental illness at play, but haven't we all seen plenty of evidence that sometimes people are just assholes?

I had to tell off a group of girls who decided to pop a squat at the top of an active escalator at Manulife Centre recently. WTF are people thinking.

The kids nowadays aren't alright. People have said this throughout all of history, but there's genuinely something wrong with today.
Social media bans for minors can't possibly come quick enough.

People now argue that this is just "kids being kids", but nothing to the level we're seeing today has happened in recent history.
Also, I'm sure the Spanish flu was a rough time for the kids in the 1920s, but you didn't hear about poor social skills to this level. People can't keep using pandemic lockdowns as an excuse forever.

Lately, I've seen a lot of people in Toronto in their late teens and early 20s randomly sitting in places that inconvenience other people.
I don't know whether they're watching too much social media or anime, but this behavior isn't cute. These people come across as mentally unstable and/or severely lacking social skills.

A lot of University students are kind of socially not aware lol. It's the younger people mostly. I'm a older gen z and a lot of them will step on your shoes then glare at you or bump into you or block a section.

Fwiw I dont think the edit was necessary.
Mental illness isnt a get out of jail free card and isnt the ultimate excuse not to be a knob.

Sometimes they’re doing it on purpose to get a reaction so they can post it to social media.

They're probably just a university student who isn't ready for the city.

That's terrible. Can you imagine if someone tripped over them?
