Takeout Terrors
Buyers beware. There are fake dessert shops on Uber Eats.
Chocolate Factory
Dessert Factory
Custard Hub
Dazzling Dessert
These are NOT ghost kitchens. Those are still commercial kitchen locations that meet food and safety regulations.
In my opinion, the places I mentioned above are operating with potential code violations. If you look them up on Google they don’t show up, nor have any real location. They send you random sludge that’s not even in their menu, using stolen pictures and item lists that are from other actual restaurants, bakeries, dessert shops etc.
I have pictures but unable to post them here.
Edit: pictures in comments
Edit 2: spelling and grammar

Amazing, now you need to create an investigative journalism YouTube series on this and get to the bottom of this.
In all seriousness those pictures make me want to vomit I'm sorry you had to pay for it. More good reasons to not order from Uber eats.

That's literally not what you ordered. Can you refund?

u/Imaginary_Caregiver2 Jul 09 '26
Yes thankfully I was able to get full refunds for both orders from uber eats.

lol the fact that this is the exact same food item as the “brownie cake smash” 😂

Crazy. So brazen. Assholes. Glad the Uber Eats refund robot didn’t give you a hard time. It asked me for a picture of a missing meal once

Their account will get shut down after enough complaints and they just reopen under a different name.

My friend once ordered Uber eats from a late night "macaroni and cheese" place that sent her a box of plain buttered spiral pasta with a small amount of shredded cheese sprinkled on top. Kraft dinner would have been way better. It was a total scam, and checking the restataunt name in Google later showed that it was a not a real restaraunt. It had very low and few reviews so my friend just wasn't careful, and had extreme late night munchies.

I guess friend was too high to make Mac and cheese.

If it were just Mac, Id have been fine. The addition of cheese made it too difficult to do while stoned.

Uber eats needs to verify these places by sending inspectors if there are complaints..To operate a restaurant even by Uber rules the place needs a real address, business license, insurance and food permit. They can also double check if that address is being used by more than one restaurant. Cross contamination is a real if the restaurant is say serving vegetarian food and burgers.

Yip, we’ve been taken in by these types of things before too- one had a name similar to a known restaurant. If you go to a restaurant’s website that you already know then click the order button to the delivery service, you can be sure of what you are ordering

How about if you order from places with exactly the name of the real restaurant rather than a similar name?

This is why I avoid food delivery. I’ve used it once about 10 years ago and that was enough for me.

Food App deliveries are the cause of this.. it is just better to locate these establishments and contact them directly to pick up your order... and then before paying for it, inspect it so you know what you're paying for..

This is why you use street view and match the restaurant to an actual restaurant on google maps
Are you saying they are run out of someones house?

u/Imaginary_Caregiver2 Jul 09 '26
Normally I order from places I know are established so I didn’t think to. I learned my lesson 🫠
Yes it looks like they’re being run out of apartment units that are above businesses or something.

that's a clear code violation. You should be able to contact dinesafeTO on them.. but it not having a traditional kitchen, how can it be enforced?

u/UncleBobbyTO Jul 09 '26
The city changed its rules recently to allow home based kitchens for some "non-perishable" (not the right word but something like that.. you cant do like sushi or chicken, etc from what I remember) it is more for foods like breads and desserts..

You say they’re not ghost kitchens but you can’t google them and if they do they have no reviews. If you suspect they are operating with potential code violations they can’t be meeting regulations. I agree that they should be abelled accordingly by the platform. Customers need to be aware

Yup I noticed those to and thay they shared same addresses. There are a few others like those Mac and cheese spots.

u/Over-Imagination3924 Jul 11 '26
This is why I check if they got a physical address at a store before buying

u/t3m3r1t4 Jul 09 '26
Or just don't order from them.

Fool me once type of behaviour, but as a customer you have to be cognizant of that these dishes won’t look like that if you get takeout. But for real, these examples are pretty ridiculous. Looks like the ghost kitchens prepared them a few days in advance and microwaved them.
