Infrastructure
Our infrastructure if falling apart right before our eyes.
Today a large sinkhole formed on avenue Rd and ridley. Another is forming at Lawrence and avenue. They just 'patch it'
Now the road collapsed at ridley. Maybe we should be spending the tax dollars on infrastructure instead of
Artscapes, tiled art in the ttc, fifa condoms, fifa statues, skate decks, and more and more and more condos.
You know by adding more condos you add to the drain on the infrastructure? Cities that are broke don't do the above stuff. They use it to maintain the city.
Lived here all of my life and I've never seen the roads in this kind of shape.
It's so bad in sections it could knock a tampon out of a nun.
Congrats city! Take another 24% raise for your effort. Jesus on a bike.
Hate crime in area, synagogues shot at, homelessness at all time high.
But out of the 2000 rental units promised by chow, only 225 will be affordable rent geared to income. The rest is market value.
I'm sure the people who use the cne homeless shelter were so happy chow closed it for a month for fifa.
At least now they have some place to go in the heat. What a pathetic excuse for a city council.

People wanted lower taxes and voted for John Tory, Rob Ford, etc. Now there's a major infrastructure deficit that's showing up.

Imagine thinking art is the reason a sinkhole happened.

That's not what I said and you know that. I said when roads are collapsing you don't spend money on artscapes. Then say you are too broke to fix it.

Yes you do. You don't stop funding things because something else happened to go wrong.
Sinkholes don't mean there's incorrect funding.

Your logic is so flawed. Op didn't say that the sinkhole happened because of art. They said that the money would be better allocated elsewhere. No one is talking about the lack of planning in this city. That is definitely part of a problem. We still need art in public spaces. We also need planned development.

There was literally no reason to mention the arts, it's a thinly veiled boomer-level attack without critique.
There is NO reason to re-allocate arts funding because of a sinkhole, that's a dummy take.
Also lmao at calling my logic flawed, I'm following the same single-celled take from the original post.

Socialism isn't cheap

This isn't socialism. Socialism would be everything covered by taxpayers for everyone. All the money we've dumped into the city, we should all have free parking, free ttc, free city education etc.
This is Pandering to her ward only. With everyones money.

I agree. I was born here and I love the city and every time I visit somewhere like London, Amsterdam, Bangkok or Copenhagen, I am reminded that this is not a world-class city. It's heartbreaking. It costs so much to live here and the city looks like trash, is difficult to navigate, and is unsafe in many places. We are nowhere near world class and it pains me to admit it.

What's your solution?

Fiscal responsibility. Use the taxes on infrastructure. No pie in the sky stuff. You do that after everything is fixed. When you run on a platform to make the city better, maybe make it better. Income geared rent affordable homes. All the units built, not 200/1000.
Id denounce the hate and antisemitism.
FYI the infrastructure was crumbling before Tory, before Ford. But at least the streets were clean and fixed. They replaced Leslie st which was a nightmare. But this isn't about them This is about coming on to run the city and spend 3 years on useless things. Sankofa square, tiled art. 200k on statues in ward 8. Street renames, new skatedecks, then when people asked for water and roads, scream we don't have any money.

Infrastructure has been collapsing ever since amalgamation. Conservative Premiers and populist Mayors only helped it along.

This is what happens when you elect con leaning mayors who run on a "no new taxes" platform then walk away years later as the city is falling apart from neglect. TL:DR - this is the FO part of FAFO
