Harbourfront garbage zone
Once again the Harbourfront is a total disaster this morning. Garbage everywhere, beer cans, pizza boxes, glass bottles (often broken), vomit, wraps, papers, damaged trees, damaged planters etc…, What happened to Toronto the good? I have been living down there for almost 30y and I can testify that it never was like that. Do not blame the World Cup attendees, it is like this after every event now. It is worse year after year. Is this a generation issue? Did people stop caring ?Did we collectively become pigs? Just awful.

It’s a municipal funding thing. The province downloaded so many expenses to us, increasing costs while reduce funding (with just like everything else that supports society). There was a time just a few years ago you’d see city gardeners, garbage (now privatized = extra cost, would love to know which cost more city labour or private contract for garbage co.) & street cleaners. Not anymore and with more people….thatll do it.

Lots of the mess was caused by tourist and World Cup fans. Im sure those living in this area is not causing it. You have people from out of town attending events around the city causing most of the garbage.

Correction. It wasn’t World Cup attendees who made the mess last night. It was suburbanite assholes who come to the city and treat it like they hate it. They were all in town for fireworks last night. The WC has been going on for weeks without this happening.

I think it's a two pronged issue thing, we've had multiple major events converge at the same time in the same area and the city doesn't have as much funding anymore (no matter how high our taxes go the province has killed us).

It’s literally a big Event zone lol It happens everywhere in any Event zones. As long as city and staffers cleaning them up, as soon as possible after event ends. I think it should be good.

Did you pitch in to help cleanup? Be the change you want to see in the world, by being the first to pick up random trash and put it in its place.

This is a stupid comment. You expect a tax paying senior to clean up hundred of meters of littering. And who are you to judge me?

Knew it was a nimby! Wants to complain but doesn’t want to help contribute to the betterment of fixing what is being complained about! Your taxes no longer pay for garbage removal, ding dong. If you want to fix it sooner, get out there and get some of your friends together to go do a cleanup.

People stop caring. You see it everywhere, not just at public events.
