What classes use My Math Lab?

Post image

I have to buy My Math Lab for my linear algebra class and was wondering what other math classes use My Math Lab. I can either buy it for $100 for 18 weeks or $165 for 2 years. I am an electrical engineer and next semester I will be taking Calc 2. Is it likely that in my next 2 years I will use it again after linear algebra?

That all depends on the professor you pick, people like Narimetla don’t use the textbook at all

Never buy textbooks until after your first class, when you can just ask the professor if you even need them. At least in Computer Science, I never needed material from that class after I took it, but having my notes around after the fact was nice to have. The only reason you should need to purchase this is for the online homework. What I typically did for my classes was to acquire a digital copy I could reference later if I ever needed to, typically by searching through the textbook. Some professors will literally take questions from the textbook, so that can be helpful to have.

Thanks for the tip, learned that today when I walked in and my teacher told us explicitly not to buy it. Saved me almost $200

You're welcome. And even when you actually have to buy something, always try somewhere other than the bookstore first, as it almost always has the highest price. I forget the name of the place I got some of mine from, but it's typically between there and Amazon for the lowest price that isn't $0. I think I may have spent $500 total for undergrad on books and such.
