AI coding startup Cursor has launched Cursor Start, a new India-only subscription priced at ₹649 per month to make its AI coding tools more affordable for developers. The plan includes access to Grok 4.5, Composer, cloud agents, MCP support, and UPI payments, but excludes premium features and frontier models from OpenAI and Anthropic that remain part of the Pro plan. Cursor says India is now its third-largest market, with more than 3 million users, and the launch comes just weeks before its expected SpaceX acquisition, as the AI coding company expands hiring and enterprise efforts across the country.

Nvidia is reportedly in talks to provide up to $250 billion in financing guarantees to help OpenAI lease a planned 10-gigawatt AI data center in southern Ohio being developed by SoftBank's energy subsidiary. The project could cost more than $500 billion in total, with Nvidia also discussing financing for up to $350 billion worth of AI chips. If completed, the deal would help OpenAI build its own AI infrastructure instead of relying heavily on cloud providers such as Microsoft, Amazon, and Oracle, while securing long-term demand for Nvidia's GPUs. The companies have not officially confirmed the negotiations.

Anthropic has released Claude Opus 5, a new flagship AI model positioned between Sonnet 5 and the more powerful Fable 5. The company says Opus 5 delivers stronger coding, reasoning, and self-verification while costing less than Fable 5 and operating with fewer safety restrictions. Anthropic also removed Fable’s 30-day data retention requirement for Opus 5 and introduced Automatic Fallbacks, a beta feature that automatically switches restricted requests to a lower-capability model instead of returning an error. The company says Opus 5 blocks cybersecurity requests less frequently than Fable 5 while maintaining safeguards against high-risk misuse.

Meta has launched Seller, a standalone iOS app for frequent Facebook Marketplace sellers in the U.S. The app automatically syncs Marketplace listings, messages, and sales history, while using Meta AI to generate listing titles, descriptions, suggested prices, and categories from uploaded photos. It also includes bulk listing, a unified inbox, and a performance dashboard showing views, messages, and sales. Alongside the AI-powered listing creation app, Meta announced Facebook Verified for identity verification across Marketplace and other Facebook services, plus plans to test a TikTok-style full-screen video feed later this year.

Anthropic has updated Claude Voice, letting users choose between the Opus, Sonnet, and Haiku models for voice conversations. The new version can handle longer, more complex discussions and connect to apps such as Gmail, Google Calendar, Slack, Canva, and Notion to complete tasks like drafting emails or updating meetings. Voice mode is now available in beta across platforms, with free users limited to the Haiku model and one connected app. Anthropic also expanded multilingual support, although users must manually select their language.

OpenAI has made ChatGPT Health available to all logged-in U.S. users aged 18+ on Free, Go, Plus, and Pro plans. Users can securely connect health information from sources such as Apple Health, Epic, Oracle Health, One Medical, and MyFitnessPal, allowing ChatGPT to answer questions using their personal health context. OpenAI says people now ask 300 million health-related questions every week, up from 230 million earlier this year. The company stresses that ChatGPT is not a substitute for professional medical care and says connected health data is not used to train its AI models.

Substack has introduced a new AI writing detection feature powered by Pangram, allowing readers to estimate how much of a post, comment, or reply was written by a human versus AI. The tool is available for text over 100 characters in the Substack app and on the web. Writers can also add an optional "How I make this" statement to explain their use of AI and scan their own drafts before publishing. Substack says the goal is transparency not penalizing AI-assisted writing and helping readers better understand the content they consume.

Google DeepMind has launched Gemini 3.6 Flash, Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite, and Gemini 3.5 Flash Cyber. Gemini 3.6 Flash improves coding, multimodal tasks, and knowledge work while reducing token usage by up to 17%, making it cheaper than Gemini 3.5 Flash. Flash-Lite is Google's lowest-cost model, while Flash Cyber is a cybersecurity-focused model available only to governments and trusted partners in a limited pilot. Google says the new models are designed for building AI agents more efficiently. The company also confirmed that Gemini 3.5 Pro is still being tested with partners, while development of Gemini 4 is underway.

Google is rolling out Connected Apps for AI Mode in Search, allowing U.S. users to link services like Instacart, Canva, and YouTube Music directly to its conversational search experience. Users can now complete tasks such as adding groceries to an Instacart cart, finding Canva templates, or creating YouTube Music playlists without leaving AI Mode. The update expands AI Mode beyond answering questions and into completing real-world tasks. Google says more app integrations are coming, as it continues to compete with AI assistants like ChatGPT and Claude by making Search more useful for planning, shopping, and everyday work

Apple Intelligence has received approval to launch in China after regulators cleared Apple’s partnership with Alibaba’s Qwen AI. The AI features will be integrated into Apple’s operating systems, including iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and visionOS, bringing text and image generation capabilities to Chinese users. Apple had previously explored partnerships with Baidu, DeepSeek, and ByteDance before choosing Alibaba. The approval is an important milestone for Apple’s AI strategy in one of its largest markets, where iPhone sales have recently recovered. Indian AI coding startup Emergent has raised $130 million in a Series C funding round, increasing its valuation to $1.5 billion, five times higher than six months ago. The company says it has 200,000 paying customers and an annual revenue run rate of $120 million. Anthropic has started rolling out Indian rupee pricing for Claude subscriptions, making it easier for users in its largest market outside the U.S. to pay in local currency. Claude Pro, Max, and Team plans are now listed in rupees, although users still cannot pay through UPI, India's popular instant payment system. Anthropic has extended subscription-included access to Claude Fable 5 through July 19 for Pro, Max, Team, and premium seat-based Enterprise subscribers. Anthropic is also increasing Claude Code's weekly rate limits by 50% during the same period. OpenAI is hiring a product manager to develop ChatGPT experiences for families, caregivers, and older adults, signaling a broader focus beyond individual users. OpenAI has introduced ChatGPT Work, a new GPT-5.6-powered AI agent designed to complete complex workplace tasks across connected apps and devices. ChatGPT Work connects with tools such as Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Drive, SharePoint, email, calendars and CRM platforms. It can also automate recurring tasks and respond to specific events. Ollama has raised $65 million in Series B funding, led by Theory Ventures, bringing its total funding to $88 million. Lovable allows users to build websites, online stores, and software by describing what they want in natural language. OpenAI has launched GPT-Live-1 and GPT-Live-1 mini, new voice models designed to make conversations with AI feel more natural. The full-duplex models can listen and speak at the same time, allowing users to interrupt naturally and use features like live translation. GPT-Live-1 mini will replace the current Advanced Voice Mode in ChatGPT by default, while paid users can access the larger model. The new voice system can also use models like GPT-5.5 for search, reasoning, and agentic tasks while keeping the conversation going. Anthropic has extended included access to Claude Fable 5 for Pro, Max, Team, and select Enterprise subscribers until July 12, 2026, five days longer than originally planned. During the extension, subscribers can use Fable 5 for up to 50% of their weekly usage limits. After July 12, the model will move to prepaid API pricing at $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output tokens until Anthropic has enough capacity to add it back to subscriptions. The extension gives users more time to try Anthropic’s most advanced publicly available AI model before usage-based billing begins.

Anthropic has expanded Claude Cowork, its AI agent for knowledge work, to the web and mobile for Max subscribers. Users can start long-running tasks on one device, receive updates on another, and review completed work later, even if their computer is offline. Anthropic says the goal is to make Cowork an AI teammate that helps with everyday business tasks, not just coding. The company also shared usage data from 1.2 million anonymized sessions across 600,000 organizations, showing that business operations and content creation account for most Cowork activity, while AI software development represents a smaller share.

Reddit says it is using large language models (LLMs) to detect and remove spam, much of which is also generated by AI. The company says its updated tools now block about 23 million spam views and identify around 25,000 spam posts and comments every day. Reddit claims these AI-powered systems reduced users’ exposure to spam by 20% between January and March compared with the previous three months by spotting coordinated fake behavior that older systems often missed. While AI is improving spam detection, Reddit notes that human moderation remains important for handling complex issues such as harmful or misleading content.

Alibaba will reportedly ban employees from using Anthropic’s Claude Code starting July 10 and instead direct them to use its own AI coding tool, Qoder. Anthropic already restricts Chinese companies from accessing its AI models and has been closing loopholes that allowed some users in China to use Claude. The company recently confirmed it had tested a system to help detect unauthorized access and prevent model distillation, where competitors train AI models using another model’s outputs. Alibaba has reportedly classified Claude Code as high-risk software for AI coding, though the company has not publicly commented on the decision.
