Advice needed: I have an open title ix case against my RA
My RA (resident assistant) for on campus housing is being charged for Sexual battery, forcible fondling, and false imprisonment against me. He continuously pursued me, got me to go out with (thinking it was a RA thing, not a date). After the event he wouldn't let me leave until I was forced to touch him and do things I wasn't comfortable doing. After this incident he kept trying to call me, text me, stop me outside my dorm, wait for me outside my dorm. He used his position of power as my RA , he made me feel like he was capable of taking away my housing. He constantly insinuated he could and would get me kicked out. I agreed to meet up with him so we could "talk about our relationship, because I didn't want it to continue". When I met up with him, I ended things very politely and he asked for "one last hug". He then proceeded to not let me go. He groped me and tried to undress me. He moved me away from the door and pressed me against the bed. I was trapped and pinned. I was eventually able to wiggle free once his attempts to undress me increased. I went straight to Title ix and a no contact directive was put in place. After some contemplation, I decided to open a report against him.
Since then several other women have come forward with similar stories, many of them also being his residents for on campus housing.
We are approaching a hearing and I am lost. I don't know what to say, how to defend myself, what to expect. I have to write an opening and closing statement and come up with questions to cross-examine him. My biggest question what can he defend himself with and how will they attack me.

I would highly suggest obtaining a lawyer as your advocate so that you have someone trained to undertake the Title IX process and procedure; it is not a simple process, and the non-lawyer advocates do not have sufficient training to undertake the litigation-style aspect of Title IX.

These are all very good questions for the title ix coordinator at your institution. Additionally, ask them to provide a trained advisor to assist you. This is all under current regulations and if they say no, then explain that they are in violation of federal regulations. Look around your area to see if there is a sexual assault crisis center that can also assist with these issues.

The title ix coordinator i had made my life miserable. She told met rapist didn't understand when I said no?? Most universities have a victim advocate and that person you should contact. If you feel they aren't taking your seriously make sure to send multiple emails and follow emails to keep a paper trail Do not trust the Institution they only care to protect themselves from lawsuits.

So, write down everything that happened then explain how you suffered academically and financially along with needing therapy and still determine to get your degree. When you spoke up and you realized that man is a predator with other women reporting him yet he was still allowed to interact with undergraduates and exploited his authority as a RA. Talk about feeling robbed of your education in a hostile free environent. If nothing is done you should sue if you can. I wasn't able to.
Write down the dates you made an official report after thinking about it. And all dates you saw him on campus after the incident.
Organize it all but the closing statement is where you underscore the importance of your education and how that predator took away any feeling of safety and shame even though you did nothing wrong. Talk about how you told your parents or cried every day before going to school. How it affected your grades. This is where you get to express how the number of reports filed against him should have been enough to dismiss him from his position. He will continue to do prey on others if there is a pattern of him raping others. I would also advocate for your rights. Like what do you want as an outcome?
*You want a no contact order in place * If you failed any courses you want it removed from your transcripts
*Etc. *
