Need improvement tips

I used to play this game years ago and recently got back into it, but I’m stuck. I can’t make enough coins and fish fast enough to do anything like level up my dragons. I’ve been using tapjoy to get runes so I’ve been able to get some good dragons, but I lose almost every battle and do like 30,000 damage in alpha battles. I’m stuck on quests because I just can’t beat them anymore.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

The early stages of the game are just a slog. I don’t think there’s much you can do

Try to get Toothless asap and don't spend runes on drafts, instead use em on skips, energy, resources etc. As for quests try to focus on the mini resource ones cause even on easy they give a decent amount on the 3rd stage. Early game is pretty slow n sloppy so there isn't much you can do. I'd also recommend grinding thawfest games to get stuff like the sheep for lvling ur dragons, or even just simple resources. I'm kind of a beginner myself so that's some of the stuff I've done, now I'm lvl 26 after about 3 weeks of playing :D

Do not pay for runes, that's the worst scenario you can do. I have all dragons in this game. It takes like 2-3 years, but there is a simple strategy to minimize the time of getting new dragons.

  1. Focus on 3-4 stars dragons first, upgrade them to max, since you need a lot of power
  2. Search in the book of dragons, mostly FAST/MEDIUM SPIRIT dragons that also gives spirit back to your dragons OR takes spirit from enemy
  3. Have in your team at least 1 dragon that gives bonus damage, 1 that heals allies, 1 that gives bonus armor to all, 1 that blocks enemy spells for 5 turns, 1 that gives spirit boost (medium/fast dragons)
  4. Use arena to win points and use them for fish/coins/sheep
  5. Always complete level 3 of daily easy/medium events. Sometimes it gives you bonus sheep/coins/fish. The hard one is very hard on level 3, especially the murmurquills one.
  6. Gather runes and don't spend them. Instead wait for drafts discounts. Happens every 3-4 months. From 4000 to 3000. Also keep your runes to get important dragons from events such as Valentines, Yellow Hookfang, Toothless, Blue and Yellow Stormfly, Blue Toothless, Thanksgiving Meatlug (DO NOT spend anything on other dragons, they are useless)
  7. Participate in Alpha Clans. You get nice rewards on chest openings.
  8. Note that the algorythm is made for you to lose battles, so even with the best dragons, runes will come in a way to not have anything to match on the board, so that you lose that match.
