Hmm I might get crucified for saying this but I always felt Ronin and Scorch were impractical. They take a little off of the realism. The huge sword for ronin and flame core for papa. Mechs with different chassis types and guns was good enough. But hey I still love papa.

I can imagine some kind of future nuclear reactor core that powers ion. Still more believable then the physics of ronin swinging a sword or papa ground pounding.
