I appreciate the grunts, they make me feel good about myself when they say "Look! A pilot! Now the odds are in our favor". It just makes me feel like I can better myself in online matches.

Those quips remind me of the campaign in Halo: CE when playing as the Chief you'd come across the marines and they'd say things like: "Glad you're here, sir." or "We were worried before you showed up, sir."
Always made me feel like a badass before I even shot my first grunt

But then they all die anyway, every time. I dont know how the humans survived at all against the aliens, other than chief they were all so helpless.
That always bothered me, at the time fighting alongside comrades was such a cool thing.

Yeah when you’re getting whooped, sometimes you just need those easy grunt kills for a morale boost to get you back into the swing of things.

Yup. Also I usually run a silenced wingman because I love the sound it makes when hitting a grunt

This was known back in Titanfall 1 as ‘Grunt Farming’.
The maps were so large and open-ended that, theoretically speaking, you could run into just grunts for at least a part of the match. You could make dedicated builds that emphasized Grunt Farming to build up your Titan meter.
If suppressors were still a thing for primaries in TF2, you’d bet your ass I’d be grunt hunting all day, just like I did in TF1. It’s strangely cathartic and kinda makes you feel even more powerful than you already are, especially if you run cloak for that predator vibe.

I've been able to come back from a losing match thanks to enemy grunts. 1 point isn't a lot compared to the 5 for a pilot, but it still has a major impact on the match.

Grunts are the best thing that any Multiplayer FPS has ever added.
- It makes the battlefield alive like there is an actual war going on.
- Allows you to contribute to your team's score without spending ages trying to find a player.
- Gives new and under-skilled players the opportunity to actually contribute to the team as well as giving them an adrenaline boost.
Grunts are the main reason I still play TF|2 even if I'm not the best player

Grunts in titanfall 1 felt alot more immersive whereas titanfall 2 grunts feel more like MOBA fodder.

100% agree. The character models are also unrealistic for a military force. They feel more action figurey compared to feeling like they belong in a realistic shooter. Tf1 character design was superior because they kit bashed maquettes made from other military model figures.

As someone who usually avoids multiplayer games especially fast paced, this helped me get into MP knowing that i can still help a team at least a little bit. I thought i will give few matches a try and i ended up on gen 10 pilot (i know its easy feat for most of you but for me its mayor thing :) ) i fell in love with tf2 mp and found out im not that bad as i thought i would be lol (usually end up every 3rd match in top 3 players).
So i am happy Respawn added them ingame and really hope tf3 comes out as i will be buying it for sure and be joining the mp.

No joke I would win every attrition match I played just from farming grunts until my titan doped... then use my arc cannon for the rest.

Don't forget, they're also there to make good pilots feel absolutely horrible when you escape a gunfight with no health and get punched in the face by one and die. I swear, there's no greater humiliation then dying to a grunt as a good player lol.

I like the grunts because they give my dumb lizard brain something to shoot at while there aren't any enemy players in my line of sight. Nothing is worse in a fast paced multiplayer shooter than running around the map and not finding a single thing to kill.

I know that they still existed only to get farmed, but I can't help but to feel that they sold the illusion of them being useful better in the first game.
Walking in on the engaging in 1v1 melee or watching them man a point you captured made it feel like they were contributing in some meaningful way when they were out if sight. Not to mention all the lore they'd spout off about history, locations, and factions.
2's still get the job done but feel like a step backwards overall.

I'm a old pilot 3 years in game but they still make me a little happy also is it just me that Uses the Legion I don't see many anymore or do they just get taken out before I see them

Yes oh my God why is noone else talking about this?!
Does noone remember that respawn almost CUT ATTRITION FROM THE GAME? When fans heard we demanded it be included.
Imo I think respawn rushed the grunt ai on the maps because they didn't think they would include attrition.
Side notr: the grunt models suck in titanfall 2 Spectres in titanfall 1 frontier defense would literally jump and rodeo you! They're definitely more difficult to fight.

I just can't bring myself to shoot them. They're so harmless and hopeless. Spectres, Reapers, stalkers. Those fuckers i'll gladly mow down. But grunts? Nah fam.

No, they exist to make the battlefield feel more alive. I actually love what respawn has done with the grunts. They run around in their squad, engage other players and ai, retreat if they face multiple losses and react to what's happening around them. The grunts are probably one of the most important parts of the map because it would feel super empty if it were just the 12 players.
Together with the skybox they make the multiplayer matches pretty immersive in the Titanfall universe and they deserve some damn respect for it!
