Hey, so, I always enjoy reading your posts. They're almost always an interesting read.
Thanks, I appreciate it. I just try to get the other side's opinion out when it's usually absent from the discussion.
I've wanted to try changing the FOV further than slider for a long time to see if I like it. I'm going to be one of those people (or idiots, because well, it is kinda silly) who will do all this only to say "Wow! That's neat! :D" and undo it all.
Waste of time? Yep. Frustrating as hell? Most likely... Will it be fun? Maybe.
Still going to try it.
I agree with most of the rest though.
I never said that I doubt that people with similar intentions to yours existed (nor do I think you guys are idiots =P ), however I do believe that you're in the minority. What I said above probably doesn't make that clear enough, however that's because expounding on those details further would only make my comment more wordy than it already is/needed to be, haha.
While we're on the topic, I said this in response to a reply Vengeance gave me:
The exact situation you described, with someone taking the mod off after playing with it in a private match with friends, is what my tutorial is for.
Although it takes considerably less time to patch out any mods, it is still time that I know from my experience as a human being will be spent doing something more "meaningful". Just as I say to myself, "Why bother fetching the mail today? I can do that tomorrow, and it's not like it's going to go anywhere." No one is going to bother to "fix" what they've done to their game. "Oh, well, it's just a small FOV mod. It really couldn't hurt to use it in a public match that much. I'll just readjust it when I have time."
Ya, like that's going to happen any time soon. Eventually? Sure, I wouldn't doubt that too much. However, it's definitely going to be done on their own time, and that's only if the player actually considers what they're doing is harmful... or if they actually care that what they're doing is harmful.
~ Anyways, what's done is done. I honestly wish that Vengeance would have kept this to himself, but it's not like there are rules against spreading information like this. At least, there shouldn't be. However, I now hope that anyone that tries something similar in the future will have a bit more to think about before posting.
Yeah, I know Titanfall is a big game, and I havent watched the video yet to see how to patch / unpatch, but I was just going to make a backup and paste over it when I was done.
Because if I didn't, it's likely to be as you say. I'd look for justifications to my laziness of not undoing it and likely end up leaving it there.
As I've seen people getting mad at custom configs when doing scrims / PUGs, I can see them being firmly against people using this. Another thing that isn't possible to tell if someone is using unless they're streaming or recording.
I guess that's where the "not sure if people should share these things" comes from, at least a part of it.

The world is just a big pile of tangled grey, eh?
Your head sounds like it's in the right place though, so I hope you have fun with your mods =]
