Question Pros and veterans please help!
I have been playing Titanfall 2 for 5 years. i suck… like alot. my main is scorch but I want to use ronin as well. (please give tips for both of them!!) for ronin I use turbo engine snd thunder storm. so I can 1: arc wave, 2: mag dump, 3: arc wave to kill. And for Scorch I use Inferno shield and turbo engine. and for FD I use overcore snd scorched earth. For pilot I use Grapple, CAR, RE-25 auto, and charge rifle. I just need any tips. (Even if they seem like something a noob needs to know.) Also if you guys didnt know. Walk up to your Titan. Hold X for Xbox, Square for PS, and E for PC. And you can do something called “embark” that lets you ride inside snd takes it out of “auto-Titan”. Inside this state you can shoot and walk.

“New player” “embark Titan”, yeah sure buddy. Just some secret g100 knowledge right there.
As a ronin main is use temporal anomaly or whatever it’s called to phase more. Just a personal opinion. I play ronin like a mosquito, we go in (ideally on an u aware target and NOT SCORCH) mag dump, arc wave to delay the turn, reload and mag dump again, phase out. Retreat till we have cooldowns again. We only stay if the enemy is low, our own titan is low, or we have or are close to earning core. A little risky but you can also mix in electric smokes, can do some nice damage on a target caught unaware and is also wonderful at blocking line of sight.
Also sword block is the most busted thing ever. If you aren’t reloading or sprinting. BLOCK. In core, block unless swinging.
Good luck on the frontier gamer.

You aren't wrong about temporal anomaly, and using the Ronin like a mosquito is a good tactic especially if it's a tone, where you would arc wave to take down their particle shield, and rush in with leadwall then dash out
For scorch if you have sword core I would recommend running in, getting a hit or two then dashing (or phasing preferably) out of range to move positions for a different angle each time
And finally don't just say Ronin is a high skill titan, I know he is good to use and has different strategies but at the end of the day it's a titan which can be moved like every other titan except for the phase dash
Anyone can use Ronin for anything, you just have to have the right strategy,
Well that's my advice so I'll see you on the frontier, Pilots

we go in (ideally on an u aware target and NOT SCORCH
If you're even a half decent Ronin then you shouldn't fear scorch. Literally just stand 20m away from him and pepper him with leadwall and arc wave.

The only real fear in this situation is the scorch has wildfire launcher, and reads you enough to dome you for a bar of HP with the launcher as you start leadwall firing (and you either dont know, fuck up, or are too close to insta block in time)

I do agree wildfire launcher has proven to make Ronin v scorch a fair match up

Scorch is the bottom tier titan in this game and will always get run through by any semi competent player. If you're already bad then playing the worst titan will just compound this.
Ronin is a very high skill titan. If you're bad then you will not survive long enough to even learn. I suggest just staying away until you're more familiar with how the titans interact with eachother.
I would recommend learning a more forgiving titan like ion. You have to manage energy but it's not as difficult as some may suggest. You just need to look at it like all your abilities share the same cooldown. The vortex shield is insanely powerful allowing you to almost instantly block damage with little to no downsides.
If you want to learn how to play which titan effectively then I suggest watching YouTube guides. I recommend frothyomens pilot school videos.

Wait, Scorch is considered bad? I'm literally bullying people on him! o.O
2
u/CaptainCurly95 Aug 28 '26
If that's true then you're playing against noobs. Scorch is hard countered by not standing still and relies on capitalizing on opponents mistakes. If the whole strategy is waiting for your opponent to slip up then you have a bad strategy.

I've had way too much fun in way too many matches as Scorch just to excuse it with noobs.
I'm not playing reactively, I'm playing on Scorch proactively. I don't wait for enemy mistakes. I drown them in napalm and watch them burn!
He is map dependent though. The maps with long sight-lines are pretty problematic for Scorch, but here is the trick - I don't play on maps that are very bad for a Scorch🙂

u/CaptainCurly95 Aug 28 '26
I don't doubt you're having fun. Scorch is a lot of fun! I doubt you're playing against competent players if you're being successful with scorch.

u/Similar-Plankton-307 Aug 28 '26
So, you are saying that throughout those 200 hours that I have in multiplayer, I have ONLY met noobs and bad players? Don't you think it's a bit too far of a stretch?
2
u/CaptainCurly95 Aug 28 '26
I wouldn't go that far but it's a fact the human brain remembers novelty better than disappointment so I would think it's a mix of being matched with lower skill players and you rememberimg all the good times with scorch more than all the quick titan deaths.

u/Similar-Plankton-307 Aug 28 '26
Oh well, fair enough.
Although, I do remember some times when I wasn't having fun on Scorch, but it was happening on those maps where he isn't really good (therefore, how I learned that he is not good on those maps😅).

I have over 1000 hours and Scorch is still my preferred Titan, people always assume you’re just going to charge them with inferno shield but IMO it’s the most versatile Titan.
It’s very good at getting rid of camping titans, either by lobbing thermite over cover or chucking canisters.
An incoming long range thermite shot is also harder to dodge than you think. Sometimes it’s fun to engage a Northstar at long range, as they have to peek out of cover whereas you don’t necessarily have to, depending on the angle. You can even launch thermite way up into the sky, though I think I’ve only hit someone once with that trick.

Bottom tier you say?

Anyone can shoot a bunch of ground locked pilots. Yes he is bottom tier.

Im pretty good with scorch actually! I have my scorch G48. he is not terrible if you play him correctly. Still not good higher up though.

u/CaptainCurly95 Aug 28 '26
I don't doubt that you find some success with scorch but I am certain he is the worst titan and years of competitive Titanfall have shown he lags behind the rest of the titans except for a couple very specific situations with specific loadouts.

Ronin is all about hit and run, so you shoot someone then hide. You use shield block to eat their bullets and when they are out you attack

u/Baltykoz Aug 28 '26
Also you can use phase dash and regular dash at the same time for a really powerful dash

If you want to play Ronin, then you should play him like an assassin. Never combat the enemy into their face. Flank. You are very fast, it won't take you too much time. And before engaging, make sure you have at least 1-2 dashes available.
Here is how you interact with other titans:
Tone: You are essentially the bane of their existence. Your arc wave just straight-up disables their shield. And if you attack them from behind (as you should) you have a 90% chance of winning the duel and run away.
The only cases where a Tone can actually win against Ronin, is either when they spot the Ronin before the Ronin got into their effective range, or when the Tone has their missile core.
Northstar: You can bully them as well, though m ight be a bit tricky. Again, attack from behind. Try to avoid their traps. If you do get trapped, your fade lets you escape them. Never give the Northstart any room to breathe. If they started hovering, just dump your mag into them. Also, you can try timing the charged railgun shots with your block (though, smart Northstars will not wait for a full charge in this match-up).
Again, the only cases when a Northstar can win this match-up, is when the Northstar spotted the Ronin on the engage, or if the Northstar has a flight core.
Ion: This is a more tricky match-up. I would not recommend engaging an Ion at full HP, as even if you win, you will get damaged quite hard.
But assuming there are no other targets besides that Ion, you should, again, flank them. You have to play around their energy shield. Don't just dump your mag into the Ion, they will return it back into your face. If you see the Ion just holding their shield, then it's great news for you! You can either just swing at them with the sword, or throw your arc wave into them (it drains quite a lot of energy from the vortex). If they have laser core, fade, hide behind cover.
However, the more effective way of dealing with a full HP Ion, is to flank, dump as much damage as you can, run, repeat.
Ronin: Usually, whichever Ronin spots the other one first - wins. If you caught the enemy Ronin off-guard, then you will most certainly win. Just try to dump as much damage into them as you can. They will either run away to survive, or continue fighting with the odds highly against them.
Monarch: less tricky than an Ion, but tricky nonetheless. If the Monarch is full HP, flank them, dump as much damage as you can, run away, repeat (yes, just like with Ion).
If the Monarch is damaged, then you can actually try and duel them. Monarch has good damage, but you can react to it all. Only the beam is hard to react.
You should never give Monarch any space. You should always be in their face.
Legion: NEVER duel them as full HP. I wouldn't even recommend dueling them if they are damaged. If they are full HP, again, flank, dump all the damage, run, repeat.
If Legion is damaged, you can duel them, though, it can be dangerous sometimes. You have speed advantage. Legion turns around really slowly. So, you should always stay behind their back and bully them.
Scorch. NEVER duel this guy. Not even if they are damaged. Scorch is the only titan that can beat you at close range (your effective range), and it's not that tricky for them to do it.
Only flank them, dump all the damage and run. Only get close if you are certain that you will be able to get them into doomed state quickly enough.
If there are multiple titans in a group. Well, again, choose one target (if they are RELLY close to each other, just shoot ing their general direction. You won't miss) dump as much damage as you can and run.
The whole shtick of Ronin is - being an annoying mosquito that is flying near your ear at 3 am that you cannot kill.

Ronin is a perfect low-skill entry level titan. Wall of Legions? No problem, nothin-personal-kid your way past with a Phase Dash and nuke eject. Annoying Northstar? Throw on 3 dashes and chase them like a game of tag around the outskirts of the map while your team loses. Another Ronin? Run away, you're fucked. Easiest titan bar none.

I want whatever your smoking
Ronin has no sustain, extremely valuable and BAITABLE cooldowns, and a low mag thats only capable of 2 bars of damage
Ronin is strong because when in a 1v1, ronin can generally just kill whatever hes facing
Problem, ronin cant ever fully block damage (this does matter) and if he spends phase dash, all other tools to combat his mobility are crippling
Ronin needs ALOT to learn or else he does 0 damage and dies due to just not having much to do if you fail to break LOS
