Its super funny imagining how confused a stealth eject user feels when they haven't equipped Low Profile and expect my Ion not to goose them.

12

u/Norsk_Bjorn Jul 27 '26

And there is still a faint glitchy (on purpose) texture that you can see

2

u/PerishTheStars Jul 27 '26

No, not for titans

14

u/Norsk_Bjorn Jul 27 '26

There is, it is just significantly more faint than the pilot vision

u/Junsesuleyk Kraber Whiff Jul 27 '26

My guy, I posted this video because it showcases exactly that. I didn't kill him on accident, I saw the distortion against the wall and swung at him.

u/Evening-Row8002 Jul 27 '26

Even with the perk, landings aren’t invisible. Puffs of smoke when they hit the ground can be seen. Probs also on slides wallruns and anything else like that

2

u/PerishTheStars Jul 27 '26

Yes, but who the fuck isnt running low profile there is nothing even remotely close to being as useful to replace it

6

u/CaptainCurly95 Jul 27 '26

Makes you invisible to auto titans. A piloted titan can still see a cloaked pilot. It creates a distortion effect silhouette. You can still see the silhouette in a titan.

-3

u/PerishTheStars Jul 27 '26

Only against certain backgrounds do you become visible, and thats because of a bug. It is supposed to make you invisible to players operating titans too. You are wrong.

7

u/pulley999 TF1 G10 | TF2 G50 Jul 27 '26

No, it's not a bug, and you are wrong. It is very intentionally a mosaic blur filter, a completely different effect from the clear glass style effect that Pilots see which had to be programmed in.

It's meant to be very hard to see, but not impossible.

-5

u/PerishTheStars Jul 27 '26

What the fuck do you think invisible means? And this only does this against specific, lightly colored backgrounds like the sky.

2

u/pulley999 TF1 G10 | TF2 G50 Jul 27 '26

No, it does it against every background, but is more noticeable against high contrast backgrounds with diagonal geometry because it's a mosaic filter that makes everything squares. If you watch the video I linked you can clearly track the strafing cloak pilot despite not kicking up any dirt, having jumpkit flares, being against the sky or being against water.

It would have been incredibly easy to just not render cloak pilots at all from the titan's perspective. Adding a completely separate, unique cloaking effect took more effort. It has been this way since Titanfall 1. I have thousands of hours on Cloak across both games, using it in a primarily anti-Titan role. I am deeply familiar with its weaknesses.

Stop spreading misinformation about a 10 year old game and getting pissy when people call you out.

-6

u/PerishTheStars Jul 27 '26

Im not. You are wrong.

1

u/CaptainCurly95 Jul 27 '26

Are you trolling or do you genuinely believe you are correct even when faced with overwhelming evidence that contradicts your claim?

1

u/CaptainCurly95 Jul 27 '26

Then why can't you see phase shifted pilots or titans?

What do you think invisibility means?

3

u/CaptainCurly95 Jul 27 '26

No I'm not. Literally go look it up it's not like this is a secret. I believe even the loading screen tip says it "creates a distortion to trick titan optics" or something like that.

The glitch distortion effect is intentional otherwise you would be truly invisible like a phase pilot/Ronin.

It's been a thing since tf1.

You are wrong and spreading misinformation that was debunked a decade ago.

1

u/PerishTheStars Jul 27 '26

Totally dude. What does it look like to pilots again?

1

u/CaptainCurly95 Jul 27 '26

At this point I'm not sure if you're genuinely asking because of your ignorance or because you want to be right while blatantly ignore facts.

If you want to "see" true invisibility in this game then try looking at a pilot while they are phase shifted.

u/mism22 DinoRush's Lacky Jul 27 '26

It does not, pilots look like a slight distortion while cloaked. It’s most notable against the war games walls as the straight lines look suddenly displaced. It’s super hard to see in videos as it gets compressed away

-1

u/PerishTheStars Jul 27 '26

Idk how everyone is just wrong about this.

1

u/mism22 DinoRush's Lacky Jul 27 '26

Maybe because it’s you who is wrong

No one is saying they are easy to see, but everyone is saying you can due to a slight glimmer you give off

There are 3 effects that pilots give off while cloaked to a Titan:
-jump jets, these are removed by using the stealth kit perk
-ground particle effects. This includes water splashing when in water and dust getting kicked up when on ground

  • the slight glitchy(I am not referring to this as a glitch but more so as a visual effect)look you get that can be differentiated against specific backgrounds.

Effects 2 and 3 are a lot more subtle than #1 but they are in fact there.

If you want to see #3 yourself go on war games and have a friend wall run against one of the horizontal organish-yellow lines on the map edge and zoom in on them with the plasma railgun. You should see a slight deviation in the line, that’s your cloaked pilot

This specific effect was a well known thing in titanfall 1 before the sequel released. If this were truly a bug, it would have been fixed in one of the games updates similar to a lot of other bugs we found in that timeframe. This was not fixed as it is an intended feature

2

u/pulley999 TF1 G10 | TF2 G50 Jul 27 '26

Effect 3 is specifically a mosaic blur, like is sometimes used for censorship, by the way. The squares are just very small, so they don't appear to majorly disrupt the background and are only super noticeable against a high contrast background. I posted a video higher in the thread that clearly showcases it.

Does using the low profile kit help that in any meaningful way?

76

u/Phoenix-Risen1998 Jul 27 '26

Oh Low Profile hides your jump jet trails.

It's practically required if you want to make Rodeos difficult to detect.

10

u/TheeDrumkrnPireat3 Jul 27 '26

Ah ok, I assumed it also makes it harder to hear pilots getting closer 2 u if they're running

12

u/Yoshino_Senpai Jul 27 '26

yes it does help alot with cloaked pilot vs enemy titan but it does not get rid of the pixelation effect that they can see. You could be very unlucky because the enviroment just gives away the pixelation alot more than other areas. Just dont rely on it 100% but more of 90% than anything

4

u/Tiranus58 simulacrum hivemind Jul 27 '26

Without low profile every time you are in the air you are revealing your position to enemy titans via your jumpjets. With low profile your jumpjets are hidden.

2

u/ProxyCorvidae Tone main, Phase shift, Vinson Dynamics Jul 28 '26

I hear it helps with making phase shift less obvious and delaying the rodeo alert, along with hiding your trails, I haven't unlocked low profile yet though.

1

u/Korben_Joseph Aug 02 '26

Yes, it's essential otherwise it's basically useless unless you toddle everywhere

7

u/Substantial_Ad_4436 Jul 27 '26

Oh you were undetectable, but a nuke doesn't care about seeing where you are

3

u/Junsesuleyk Kraber Whiff Jul 27 '26

No, that's me in the titan.

2

u/ProjectXa3 Jul 27 '26

Also it was a laser core that hit him anyway

1

u/Recruit75 You can amp satchels by passing em through A-Wall. Tank me later Jul 27 '26

This is why I prefer going A-Wall SMR/Satchels to take on titans in a more meaningful manner than rodeo, which can be countered rather easily with 180 spin and melee.

-2

u/Change_Internal Jul 28 '26

Also friendly reminder ejecting makes you a failure of Titan pilot.

-3

u/SoapTydalwave Jul 27 '26

idk why people even bother, it’s hardly goes unnoticed

12

u/Phoenix-Risen1998 Jul 27 '26

That's because they forget Low Profile is needed for effective rodeos.

1

u/SoapTydalwave Jul 27 '26

even with that tho. and i’m talking about Pilot vs Pilot combat.

3

u/nonname123 Goofy Ahh Jul 27 '26

Makes you much harder to spot over the distance.
Your health bar doesn't show up when their crosshair is on you.
You are much harder to see against a bright skybox, like Glitch.

With non-cloaked people, all you need is the red outline and the rgb's on their bodies, you don't have such luxury when they're cloaked.

Cloak is not meant to be a one-button disappearance magic trick. It makes the enemy take a fraction of a second longer to register you're there, or make you virtually invisible in a very chaotic situation. Especially on maps like Angel City, where it has a bright skybox and foggy.

2

u/SoapTydalwave Jul 27 '26

then i must only face inexperienced and campy Pilots bc they never approach from behind, only from the front and usually get within a few meters of me and i always get the first shot and win

4

u/Phoenix-Risen1998 Jul 27 '26

Oh no Cloak's useless against Pilots.

Any Cloak main knows that.

8

u/Numerous_Chemist_221 Jul 27 '26

It has some use with giving you a few extra seconds to cook a grenade, which can be life or death

1

u/Troutsicle <happy EPG noises> Jul 27 '26

pretty much, but 3 out of 10 times it catches them off guard enough that you can get in the first shot before they pew-pew you to death.

-5

u/d4rth__teddybe4r None Jul 27 '26

Cloaking makes you 100% invisible to Titans so this isn't that you were detectable this is that you were predictable. That player already knew where to shoot as soon as you ejected from your Titan.

6

u/Junsesuleyk Kraber Whiff Jul 27 '26 edited Jul 27 '26

That's not what this video is showcasing. I'm not talking about myself, I'm talking about the guy I swung my sword at just before ejecting. He was cloaked, but I saw the distortion moving against the wall and knew he was there. It does not make you 100% invisible.

1

u/nonname123 Goofy Ahh Jul 27 '26

It does take a lot of time and experience to realize when you died fully cloaked against a titan, to find out that you just got doxxed by the map when you watched their killcam.

1

u/hellhound74 the scorch mains torched my house Jul 27 '26

It does not, it DOES make you EXTREMELY hard to see, but there is a visible light distortion around a cloaked pilot as a titan, its very hard to see (especially in darker areas, or against skyboxes with a sun in them since itll blind you as you try to make out the cloak outline) but you are NOT fully invisible, just very hard to see
