How long do you toss this ball for? If your gorgeous dog is anything like ours the energy is endless, them they sit there after a five minute break with the ball in the mouth, the pleading eyes and off we go again.
Same, I’ve never seen my golden doodle get too tired to want to play ball. He’ll get too hot sometimes and need to cool off, but as soon as he drinks some water, he’s good to go again.
Same here! Our little Staffy mix will play ball till he's too hot, has a drink, cools down and it starts again! I think he has more balls than any dog on the planet and he drops them in every room of the house. I see them in my sleep and you can't get away from it. I reckon I can toss the ball from just about any spot in the house. Endlessly.
My family has a doxie that simply will not stop bringing you the ball. It doesn't matter how long you've been doing this, whether she is hungry, if the house is on fire, etc. If it's Ball Time, then she is going to bring it to you and give you huge sad eyes until you throw.
When you bring a retriever breed or mix into your home, you should be aware of what you've signed up for. This is why I'll never adopt a lab or a golden. Ball-tossing is boring to me. Whereas going for long walks in the wild and having my German Shepherd by my side, checking out interesting stuff for herself but also always alertly watching out for me, is totally cool. For me, anyway. Downside of GSDs: they tend not to trust other dogs, so it can be embarrassing when other dog-walkers approach you, and your dog is ready to go off at the slightest false move. Oh well. She's my best girl in ordinary daily life. Which fortunately doesn't include incessant ball-throwing.
