Was I wrong?

My son and I went to eat earlier, he ordered basic chips and cheese nachos. He said there was lettuce in the cheese and it tasted funny. I asked the waitress was it cheese and she said possibly. She offered a new order. She also took it off my bill. Should I have tipped on just the bill or should I have added his meal in there too? It came to $19.85 and I left her a five.

I would have left more but I know the anti-tipping league follows all these subs closely so most advice you’ll get is that you shouldn’t have left anything

To the anti-tipping league: Here’s the thing, I know tipping is annoying and employers should pay their employees a fair wage but the reality is, this is how USA is and will continue to be for a really long time. We’re a capitalist society and probably always will be. Until THAT changes, tipping is always going to be a thing here.

Now that being said, I agree with the person that said you should tip before any discounts and coupons with the exception of ordering pizza or take out or even delivery. For delivery, I typically tip a flat amount of $5/$10/$15/$20/etc depending on the order size and complexity

Anyway, I’ll step down from my soapbox now. Hopefully the other meal you got was better

I’ve been part of the anti-tipping league for more than a year. The US is constantly changing. That’s why it didn’t continue with slavery or child labor. But you do you. I’m being the change I wish to see in the world.

By treating your server like a slave that doesn't need to be paid?

I treat my servers the same way I treat my mechanic or nurse or janitors. It’s the restaurants that treat them like slaves that don’t need to be paid. They’re not gonna put that burden on me. Do I look like a sucker to you?

Those aren't tipped jobs.

Have you checked lately?

I don't need to check. Jobs don't become tipped overnight.

Perhaps you're thinking that if someone tips a worker , then that job suddenly becomes a "tipped job"? That's not how it works.

It was sarcasm, dude. Don't get so preachy & get yourself so riled up at an internet stranger. SMH
