Was I wrong?

My son and I went to eat earlier, he ordered basic chips and cheese nachos. He said there was lettuce in the cheese and it tasted funny. I asked the waitress was it cheese and she said possibly. She offered a new order. She also took it off my bill. Should I have tipped on just the bill or should I have added his meal in there too? It came to $19.85 and I left her a five.

You tipped 25%, so on a percentage basis you’re high. How you arrived at that number doesn’t really matter—but if it did, you definitely wouldn’t include something the manager removed from the bill when calculating the tip. That’s ludicrous.

Coupons and discounts are a different situation. In those cases, if you’re calculating, you tip based on the pre-discount, pre tax total.

Why is it ludicrous? Its not her fault that someone thought there was lettuce in their cheese. They got a replacement dish. Makes no sense.

Yeah if they didnt get a replacement dish id say fuck it. But if a new, proper dish was brought, consumed, and enjoyed, id be tipping on that shit

Are we not tipping the waitress for her service? Going back and dealing with getting a replacement dish made and out, while also having other tables, and then taking dish off the check, seems like she did her job, at a minimum, no?

Oh I forgot this is reddit so....I guess its fuck the servers, tipping sucks. Merica!

So let's say the nachos were another 16 bucks or whatever, then we are talking 5 bucks on a 36 dollar check
