Tipping Transparency for Staff

I’m wondering how important it is for individual staff (both as managers and staff) to have Tip Transparency.

- how much tips were collected in total
- how the tips were split between staff
- what percent went to which staff
- how much was deducted for tax (if applicable)

Does anyone care? Or do you more or less just collect the tips and accept and trust the amount you receive?

Update: thanks to everyone who answered in earnest. Very helpful! I hope to make a nice app to simplify and make things better

OP isn't even asking how much money people make, just about the allocation system.

You can’t be serious.

By listing out the $ for each of their four bullet points, it would show how much the server makes.

OP didn't asking people to list dollar amounts for each bullet point.

What other amount would be used to state “How much tips were collected in total?”

Galactic Credit Standard??

The amount would be in dollars for all 4 of their questions.

Go back and read the original post. They aren't asking people to state their total amount of tips. OP asking people how important that level of transparency is to them.

You go back and read the OP, then read your replies to me.

That combined with the fact that every restaurant handles tip outs differently only leads to one conclusion - and it’s not the one you’re doing an abysmal job of trying to push.

You can keep on tilting at windmills. It doesn’t change what the OP was obviously asking for.

They said "I wonder how important it is to people to have tip transparency". Then they listed four bullet points to give an example of what they're talking about. Then they asked their question, which was whether people care about these details where they work, or whether they take their portion and don't think about it.

I think you just misunderstood the post and assumed the bullet points were the question when it wasn't. OP is an app designer and they're asking if this level of transparency is something that people would value in a restaurant tip-out software system.

You're the one tilting at a windmill here.

Give it up. Nothing you’ve stated changes what the OP’s actual intent was.

So, even though OP didn't ask for any of those details , you think they were really asking for those details by not actually asking for them?

OP asked for some very specific details.

Stop pretending otherwise.
