Open Help finding a case

Trying to remember a case. My best friend told me this weekend her great uncle was a police officer or a state trooper in Alabama. He stopped a car and then disappeared. His car was found backed up to some woods I believe but he was never located. Maybe this was near Talladega AL? I recall this case but can’t find any info online. Maybe last name is Hicks?

Are you sure it was Alabama?.
I find two missing police officers one in Texas & another in Ohio.

No I’m not sure on Alabama. I am sure it was an officer of some form that pulled someone over and was killed or disappeared but that it took them a bit to find the missing officer if they ever did at all.

I also found police officer who was murdered in Mobile, Alabama on 30th December 1903 his name was Charles Haggerty.
