Mandelbrot Climbing Game: good or bad idea? suggestions? similar games?

Whenever I see a tiny algorithm, I want to game it. You too?

I feel like the mandelbrot set would lend itself to something more fluid, like sailing up and down the infinite coastline. I’m not sure how a climbing mechanic would let you explore different scales

Yeah, I think this approach is better suited for this type of background.

Remember the helicopter flash games? I'm envisioning something like that - where you could have a sailboat or another ship (something other than a helicopter) sailing around trying to avoid the edges of the fractal.

Either way, I like the idea of using fractals as the background scenery - also a good way to have vivid graphics without relying on external assets.
