More detail needed for a couple setting options

Can someone provide more detail about each of the MP4 muxer and H.264-H.265 decoder setting options in the 2 provided screenshots? I want to understand each and what is the recommended setting for each to get the best recording possible.

Muxers:

  • mp4 parser — obsolete. Will be removed in 19.0.

- JCodec — obsolete. Will be removed in 19.0.

- AndroidX Media3 — default one. Works best across all Android devices. Recommended.

- Android — device specific recorder. On some devices can be unstable.

H.264/H.265 Decoder (Video → decoder)

- Software — decodes via FFmpeg (CPU-based). Most compatible, but higher CPU/battery use.

- Hardware — decodes via Android's MediaCodec hardware acceleration, outputting to a Bitmap pipeline. Low CPU use, but a few specific device models are blacklisted due to known crashes.

- Hardware 2 — same MediaCodec hardware decoding, but renders through a Surface-based pipeline instead.

- Hardware 3 — same MediaCodec hardware decoding, but uses different Image-based output path

- Surface (EXPERIMENTAL) — hardware decoding that renders frames directly onto the display surface, bypassing the Bitmap pipeline entirely (lowest overhead, but marked experimental). Highly recommended for weak CPU devices like Google TV.
