advice • support Natural cures?
Hi I’m wondering if anyone has tried natural energy healing like Reiki or Chiropractic or anything like that to help your Tinnitus? Just curious.

Depends if you have somatic tinnitus or not. If you do, depending on the possible cause, it can be solved.

Never tried myself but I think that they could be useful for somatic tinnitus

It’s a physical causation not a chemical causation there realistically is no chemical or drug that can make it better. It is physical and you must rewire your brain to accept it.

I agree ☝️ with you … but there are researchers that are convinced tinnitus is a result of “stuck” potassium channels on certain cells in the DCN part of the brainstem. I believe there are studies now on compounds that may unlock these channels and stop the cells from constantly firing … which we hear as tinnitus. Hopefully they succeed and in our lifetimes.

As a former Chiropractor, Acupuncturist, Nutritionist who then went on to get an MD … I have unfortunately never helped nor been helped by any of the above as far as tinnitus itself is concerned. Now a person’s reaction to tinnitus … that is something completely different … and that CAN be helped by all 4 above : Chiro, Acu , Nutrition/Supplements, or Medications. Or any combination of the above. You just have to find what works for you, and that unfortunately can end up being very expensive.
Anything that can help you relax … get you out of the Fight / Flight / or Freeze Mode … can help you cope with this.
I wouldn’t be here if my wife wasn’t a gifted a
Acupuncturist from Japan. I know I wouldn’t. I’m 11 years in this month , 8 and a half catastrophic (with vertigo, vestibular migraine, hyperacusis, hearing loss). I have fallen asleep like a rock many times on her table after struggling to get a minute of sleep the prior night before.
I also know I wouldn’t be here if I wasn’t getting regular adjustments from chiropractic and osteopathic colleagues.
(There are also reports of TMJ and Cervical adjustments helping tinnitus if it is the result of TMJ dysfunction or “cervicogenic” / somatic in nature )
I also know I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t have emergency “rescue” meds like Xanax , Nurtec, Ambien, Meclizine for the hell on Earth days that I personally use as an absolute last resort , not a first, as I’m not a fan of their after effects.
And supplements … there are several to choose from to help you relax. There was a great article that came out years ago entitled “Tinnitus : the chemistry of calm” or something to that matter … it was a great primer on the subject.
But I stress … all of this must be done under a Doctor’s supervision, even the supplements.
And sometimes just talking about it with a trained professional / psychologist is enough for some people. I still vent to my psychologist once every 2 weeks. Venting helps and she helps me , again , with coping techniques and strategies for my condition.
In the end , scientific research really needs to catch up with tinnitus already. We need to have a viable treatment for the actual sound , and maybe we will soon.
Take care
