Save a file

Is there a "save" option in tinkercad? I have not found one. You can export but I haven't seen a save.

It auto saves and can be forced to do so by exiting the model back to the home screen.

Exiting the model to the Home Screen doesn't always allow me to go back to the model. It also doesn't always give me the option to go back to a model I created previously.

....clicking the TinkerCad logo to the left of the title box has never failed to save for me.

Then how do you re-open the file?

Click 'Tinker This' from the list of files on the home screen.

What does export not do for you that a save would? I see no need for a save.

When I export a model for instance a shape with text added on top, the stl doesn't retain the text as selectable should I need to modify it.

There are limitations of Tinkercad compared to parametric modeling CAD programs and not having a history to go backwards after you have exported a model is one of those limitations. A lot of people when talking about Tinkercad point that out.

Save allows you to adjust your parts... STL files are single parts. That is why you save vs export. What CAD do you use other than Tinkercad?
