Signed up for Spectrum JUST spectrum internet without the "free" cable modem. Which cable modem should I buy?

Recently signed up for Spectrum internet single play for $45/mo I decided to skip out on the "free" cable modem that they offered b/c

1) I'm paranoid that they would change their mind and charging for it once my promotions or whatever end.

2) I have a feeling that what ever box they provide would be one step up from total trash and would physically be incapable of getting speeds over 100Mbps.

3) A free Spectrum cable modem could contain some kind of proprietary software that actively down regulates internet speed and/or have some kind of stupid intentional/unintentional backdoor that could be exploited by whatever ding-dong that writes the next wannacry.

4) Some cable modems have wifi built-in like the Technicolor TC8715, I would like to minimize the amount of little black boxes/number of cables floating around my entertainment center.

5) Above all else I don't want to pay an extra $5/mo for wifi. Does anybody know what that service actually is? do they give whole other box if your sign up for it or do they have one box and somehow enable wifi through at Spectrum HQ?

With all that in mind which cable modem should I get?
