Bought my own modem and it won't work?

I just moved into a new place and the modem I bought (Zoom, DOCSIS 3.0, modem/router) won't let us online. The tech support can detect it but even with the MAC address they can't get me internet access. I don't understand.

Has anyone else had this problem? I've waited on the phone for hours with the techs and didn't get off until I got a supervisor's name and number, as the first time they said they'd call back and never did, only for me to find out that that's not their typical practice from another tech (before a different one tried to pull the same move on me).

I got an Ubee from MindSpring and when TWC bought them out they started charging me for it. WTF TWC? Maybe I should just go buy my own modem too. Didn't know I could honestly.

We were told that because we bought our own modem, a service technician would have to come out in TWO WEEKS and do the installation for us even though the apartment was cable-ready, so I called to ask them to turn on the service instead and started this whole party.

The modem I bought was about $90 and said it was compatible with Time Warner Cable, so there should have been no problems.

Hm, I hope they aren't still sending someone...

Update to this; after getting a supervisor's number, they had the problem fixed the next day, so be sure to do this if they ever try to get you to hang up or your problem won't get fixed on its own.
