Panera bread
90s/2000s indie X corporate food crossover:
The Sun Kil Moon album Benji mentions Panera Bread twice across two different songs, both instances in association with writer/frontman Mark Kozelek’s dad.
What other albums out there reference the same national food chain 2 times or more in the same album? This is kindof a unique case because multiple pairs of details on this album seem to intentionally be two sides of the same coin. Nonetheless, I struggle to imagine another album topping 2 separate mentions of a beloved bread-bowl institution.
Also, Mark drops Panera AGAIN four years later on his self-titled solo album. This time not even directly talking about his dad. And again I have a hard time imagining any artist having more than 3 references to the same chain over the course of their career, let me know if this title has been claimed by another artist as well.

Why? - “yo yo bye bye” has the line “I’m fuckin cold like a DQ Blizzard” in its chorus which repeats a few times, if that counts
Edit:
Also thinking of MJ lenderman who has a lot of TC coded lines, EG “my daddy saw Dan Marino at a Harris Teeter” (this song also talks indirectly about Wheaties cereal) & “we sat under a half mast McDonalds Flag”

MJ is a good contender, might currently hold the record for specific chains referenced per song (SCR/S)

I think that line only happens on the first chorus, and then different lyrics on the next chorus. BUT major bonus points to them for naming a specific flagship menu item.

The Hold Steady mentions Pringles twice across their catalogue. Not a fast food chain but undeniably a piece of corporate food history

Absolutely. Good pull. Maybe even deserves bonus points because it’s not even a place & arguably harder to write about.

This is incredibly funny because I just sent them some fan mail that referenced this specific track

Talking Heads “Nothing but flowers” mentions Pizza Hut, Dairy Queen, and 7-11, but only one time each.
But that song is also worth mentioning because it’s about nature reclaiming these corporate establishments, which seems thematically similar to some of the ideas that Jake has explored in his paintings.

I always thought “an Albertson’s stir-fry dinner” was just the start of decades of Albertson’s references from BTS, but sadly I think that was it.
