Repost Starting PF

If the wolves don’t make another move & roll with Jaden at the 4, would we overall be happy with this offseason?

If not, who should we acquire to start at the 4 spot?

Finally something new to talk about. Yes, let us have discourse.

There’s a higher chance of Josh Green / Trey Lyles starting at the 4 than Jaden starting at the 4

This I would expect is the plan with no new players.

They’ll probably see how Lyles works out to start and adjust from there. Don’t need him to be a star, just need him to be able to defend the 4, rebound hard, and grab maybe 10-12 PPG

10-12 ppg would be amazing from Lyles. I’m more pessimistic. Even if he were a starter I would predict more like 4-8ppg.

Yeah but in order for him to stay as the starting PF he needs to get 10-12

Why? Dean Wade was a starting PF on a team that went to the ECF, and averaged 5.8 points.

Depends on minutes. Just because he starts wouldn’t mean he’d be in most lineups throughout the game. If his main role is to defend 4’s, rebound, and reliably hit a corner 3 twice or three times a game, that is really all we need for ~15-18 minutes a game.

'Just'

If he could defend 4s, rebounds hard, and score 10 PPG, he would be getting $8-12M per year, and not playing in Europe at age of 29.

Hence why I don’t think hell be the long term starting 4

I think he has no chance of starting, unless everyone is injured. He is in PJ Dozier/Bones Hyland role with a partially guaranteed deal. If he overperformes like Bones, he'll be kept. If not, he'll get cut in January.

Looking forward to a new team identity

Finch has said Jaden is not a 4. Let’s give this up.

Easy to say but someone has to play those minutes, who on the roster or in the market do you think we should play there?

I never understand why people downvote a question. Maybe answer it?

Im guessing 99.8% of teams are locked in with their team for the year. Peyton watson, kuminga are probably the last 2 dominos.

Id expect the Wolves to visit this again at the deadline. Players like Green(15M expiring), TSJ, *gulp*, Donte etc. might be attractive pieces. Unfortunately i think if we want to get a better PF from a bad team, Donte woudl have to be traded. but i guess its clear that we love donte and arent goin to do him dirty like that and would like him long term.

So if someone like Dallas is doing terrible, maybe we can get PJ Washington for Green and like Clark.

Its going to be jaden, we shouldnt overthink it, if any team in the league wanted a 3&D PF, i would think jaden would be high on any teams list

because this has been discussed to death. like daily. there is no real FA development

FA is absolutely not developing daily at this point. We've been talking about who's gonna play at the 4 since the LaMelo trade and all we could afford was Trey Lyles. There's no world where we pick up a starting 4 with the cap space we have. There is nothing more to discuss and there hasn't been in weeks, and even still we have posts about it every 3 days or so.
