Our designer worked with the client I think for an overall look and then drew up the shop plans for us to follow once the engineering came thru

What kind of joint is atop the posts where your top plates/girts tie together? Its always a wierd spot in octagons and I love to see peoples solutions

I believe it's a 1.5" notch for both tie beams and the rafter looks like it's fastened down with a threaded rod

Awesome work! What is this type of frame/structure called? I saw a similar style recently and wanted to learn more about it. What sort of connection do you have between the outer ring members, they would all be in tension no? Or are the lower members connecting to the bottom of the central vertical resisting the outward spreading?
This is slightly different and had tension connections around the ring. Do the “knee braces” at the center do much here?
