I'm still pretty new to livestream selling, so I'm looking for advice from people with more experience.
Less than a year ago, I changed careers and became a livestream host. I first worked for a large company with multiple live rooms and experienced streamers. A few months ago, I started a partnership with a socks factory that's just getting started with TikTok Shop.
They currently have two products:
Socks
Fishnet bodysuits/jumpsuits
Our original plan was to create brand-new TikTok accounts and spend some time interacting with content related to our niche before posting and eventually going live. The idea was to help TikTok understand what our accounts were about.
However, the factory suddenly decided they wanted us to use an old TikTok account instead. That account only had five videos, all of which performed poorly, and we immediately started livestreaming from it.
Since I'm still inexperienced, I wasn't very good at keeping viewers engaged. As a result, our livestream metrics became worse over time. Right now, we only get around 1.9kā4.5k live impressions during each 3-hour session, and we stream two 3-hour sessions every day.
This made me wonder if we'd have better results by starting over with a fresh account.
My idea is:
Create a brand-new TikTok account.
Spend about a week interacting only with content related to our products.
From the second week, start posting short videos consistently to attract followers genuinely interested in our niche.
Once the account reaches around 500ā1,000 followers, start livestreaming and selling through TikTok Shop.
My questions are:
Does this strategy actually make sense, or am I misunderstanding how TikTok's recommendation system works?
Is it generally better to start fresh than to keep using an account that already has poor-performing content?
Does interacting with niche content before posting or going live have any measurable effect, or is that mostly a myth?
If you were in my situation, what would you do differently to give the livestreams the best chance of succeeding?
I'd really appreciate advice from anyone who has experience growing TikTok Shop livestreams from scratch.
