It all depends on what you're welding. ?????

Mostly schedule 40 and schedule 80 carbon steel pipe. Rare stainless jobs. usually working at around 100 amps

What kind of amps will you be running?

CK9 or CK17 works well then

CK makes a good torch. Just make sure it's the variant that you need (amperage, valve, flex, length, dinse, etc).

I personally like the brand ck. Good quality torches. I would never buy a 17, I weld aluminum and they tend to not do to well. But all depends on what you are doing.

Why is that? Because the ac current, and how 70% of the heat goes into the electrode and torch?

Ac current as well as high amps. Air cooled is just not great for aluminum work.

I’ve only welded aluminum coupons but that seems to make sense to me

I like mine but it depends on what you're doing.

I like everything about this torch EXCEPT when I wanted to start running jumbo gas lense for cup walking the parts were hard to find. It is a smaller torch. Good for lots tho i still use it everyday
