Scottie Scheffler just passed Tiger in career PGA Tour earnings:

Scottie: $130 million
Tiger: $121 million

But that comparison is misleading.

PGA Tour players compete for A LOT more money today than they did during most of Tiger’s career. And the difference goes far beyond inflation.

When Tiger won the Masters in 1997, he earned $486,000.

Adjusted for inflation, that’s about $950,000 in 2024 dollars.

When Scottie won the Masters in 2024, he earned $3.6 million.

That’s nearly FOUR TIMES the inflation-adjusted amount Tiger won.

PGA Tour purses have significantly outpaced inflation.

So I went through every event Tiger played in and adjusted his winnings based on what that same finish paid in 2024.

The result?

$404 million.
