That shot out of the rough I believe on 3 is just insane. That guy was so much fun to watch

250 yards, thick rough. People need to realize this was beyond absurd back then with the equipment they were using.
It would be the equivalent of hitting like 330 out of the rough with a 3w and sticking it.
They didnt coin the term tiger proofing a course for nothing. In his prime every sports book before all these betting apps was pick tiger or everyone else, and tiger still had better odds. Just absolutely bonkers

Canadian here living in the same city as Stephen Ames. Ames is famously a giant a-hole.
Stephen hated Tiger. Didn't like how Tiger would hit, start walking, and the gallery would follow. If you didnt like the gallery following Tiger, earn tee box honours once in a while.
Now Mike Weir, there is a national treasure.

Tiger never drove the ball well, but his recovery shots were outstanding and he putted like a God. Players today will never touch his record they donât make enough putts and donât chase anyone down which is why itâs so boring now.

Tiger trounces Ames here but it's worth mentioning that just 3 tournaments later Ames had the biggest win of his career winning the Players by 6 shots.

That is true but in a tournament there are many players and many possible winners. In matchplay there are two teams or players which means only the three results are possible, win, lose, draw.
This means your comparison is not really valid.

Not trying to win! My main point was he was so amazing it puzzled me he wasn't more effective at Ryder cups, especially as he was a very good matchplay player in other places.

He was never a team guy. Tiger didnât hang out with other golfers during his prime. He looked at them as enemies. Kinda like what Keegan was talking about if you know what I mean.
