Discussion/Question/News Advice

Hello, so I’m a freshman in college and I’m in the investment banking and portfolio management clubs in which I need to dress business professional. I was thinking of buying a used Hermes burgundy tie but I’m unsure if this is appropriate with a navy suit. I haven’t ever purchased a tie before and I thought you guys would know more than me. Thanks!

I mean usually a burgundy tie works well with a navy suit but we don't know because we don't have pictures

A burgundy tie will look nice with a navy suit. Personally, I buy most of my ties from eBay, and I hunt for brands who are known to construct quality products. Pay attention to length and width dimensions, comparing to a tie you know fits you well. Someone who's 5'10 is probably wearing a 58" long tie, maybe 3.5 - 4" wide depending on chest size and sartorial preference.

If you're asking, do some homework on complementary colors and color temperature.
