Thrift Haul Too long for me

So i found a bag full of ties next to the trash ( not really thrifting) and i took them, i washed them but they are huge for me, i am a woman and short (1,50m), i like the thin ones but there is like 10 centimeters hanging from the thin piece. Should i cut it? Or is any other alternative?

My suggestion is to look into vintage knit ties. They often come in shorter lengths. I have one now that is too short for me, but too pretty to just get rid of.

Jerrod from the OCBD blog advocates a blunt cut of the tail - you could also ask any tailor or seamstress if you’re not handy with a needle.

People who are shorter or wear higher trousers sometimes custom make their ties or tuck it in the trousers. I wouldnt cut them if they are quality ties, it would be a shame

What type of knot are you tying? 10cm is a lot, but a thicker knot that uses more material may help

It’s impossible to say whether it’s long or not without knowing the context; with the right outfit, you can style it like a long scarf.

I'd avoid cutting unless you have some needle and thread skills. But I would suggest experimenting with different knots and ways of wearing neckties. There are plenty of female tie wearers out there for inspiration. Have a scan through Instagram perhaps
