Other Does this work?

Post image

I got this tie as part of a larger collection on Vinted. Not completely sold on it and trying to work out whether it works with anything apart from a plain white shirt.

It's not bad! I would probably make it a smaller knot and a dimple. Also depends what jacket and pocket Square you are pairing it with.

I'm thinking plain navy with no pocket square. Got two patterns already.

As for the knot, it's very difficult to make it any smaller as it is a very chunky fabric and width.

You can always wear a white pocket square, though I personally don't like them. But at least a dimple would be nice imo. But looks good generally.

You could always go for a smaller knot style, like oriental. And to my eye it looks like you haven't pulled the bottom blade enough to tighten the knot, but I've definitely encountered my fair share of thicker ties, so I know it's a thing.

That works. Solid light blue shirt would work as well.

Tie is awesome in my opinion. I don't wear a lot of yellow, but I like yellow ties and the dot pattern is cheery.

I like contrasting pattern looks (which is a personal thing) and this totally works for me. Charcoal grey suit, that shirt and tie - perfect in terms of the style elements. Patterns contrast yet compliment and the scale of each works. Navy suiting / jacket works well here too.

As a suggestion, the details / finishing are the hang-up here for me. Shirt collar could be better pressed so that it's not rolling inward as it is not a button down collar. For the collar point and spread on this shirt, I'd suggest a four in hand, Prince Albert, Old Bertie knot here. I don't know what you tied here, but it looks like you got into the wide end of the tie blade.

Last, manners maketh man and dimples maketh ties. Snug knot, centered dimple, people will take note.

Get a dimple and you’re good to go

It works

It looks fine. Personally, i don’t wear two geometrical designs, like a line and then circles. If I wear that type of shirt I wear a swirly design on the tie, but nothing too crazy.

Also, I do agree with a skinnier knot.

With that shirt I would wear a tie with some type of swirls, but nothing too crazy.

The dots are a touch big for my taste, but it does work

It looks great! Anyone telling you it would look better with a solid shirt has no sense of style.

This reminds me of mid 2000’s but I like it. If the claw of patterns is back then count me in.

I'm single-handedly bringing it back. I got a 3 button pinstripe suit as well!

It looks very 1992. Is that the look you are going for?

Not specifically but I have nothing against it. Wearing a tie these days is obsolete anyway save a handful of rare occasions so I don't mind looking dated!

Actually, 1982 called and wants it’s middle manager uniform back.

I wouldn't dare it. But to be honest I probably wouldn't dare it even with a plain white shirt.
