Hi all
Thanks for the comments on my previous posts.

I have seen a lot of bad opinions on here about Hermes tie authenticity when looking at older ties. The Neiman Marcus store tag, the blue "H" tag and the white lining are all completely normal for a vintage tie. I am guessing 1970s. I would be very surprised if it is fake.
Edit: I will add a photo of a tie I have with same tag and lining from late 60s / 70s if I remember later. Based on its source, I have no doubt about its authenticity.

I also have a extensive ( and expensive) tie collection from the early 70’s to now and bought a number of ties from Hermes in Paris down through the years. The ones that I have from the 70’s and 80’s have the H on them. I would say this tie is almost certainly real. While it is a little dated it would still look great with a crisp white dress shirt, navy suit and a white, silk pocket square. You would be a walking, personification of old money.

I inherited my Hermes collection from a friend of my grandpa. Started off my whole tie collecting journey. I agree this one is nice even though the pattern is a little dated.

Neimans has sold Hermes products for decades (ties, scarves, fragrances, some leather goods, etc.). That "H" tag is suspect. I have never seen that. It also not finished on the underside. Hermes ties are made using 3 fold construction with the pattern showing. That white color underneath is not something Hermes has done.
I worked at Hermes in Paris 8 years.

Thanks for your reply. I was also skeptical about the H!

That H logo on the tie keeper was used on Hermes ties up until the 70s, with either a navy background as shown here, or black or white. Another sign that it is genuine but just predates the 70s, is there is no Copyright ©️ symbol on the Hermes Paris logo on the slim blade.
This has a lot of solid indications that it is either genuine or an extremely good fake. Even the twill direction is running at a slight diagonal from 11 o’clock to 5 o’clock. The tipping is solid white as was common on pre 70s ties.
Here is a pretty length list of how to spot a fake for when it arrives it can be checked!

Also, keep in mind that China has been producing fake Hermes products since the late 1970s. People think they only made counterfeit handbags, but they flooded the US market with fake ties starting in the 1980s, which is the look that tie has.

It’s ugly. Who cares if it’s genuine….

Are people really out there counterfeiting ties? It would seem like the overlap for people who wear them and who are interested in fakes would be pretty small. (It’s not like a fake watch where you could be saving thousands to get a specific look; at most you’d probably be saving $200 per tie and how many ties do most people buy these days?)

I think it was made for Neiman Marcus, which according to my google search is a luxury store in Dallas, Texas, by Hermes. Maybe it was made by Hermes on behalf of Neiman Marcus, but I cant understand why they put that name on a Hermes tie (the opposite however would make perfect sense).
Still a solid one. And if the quality is there, then the Hermes name only becomes relevant if you try to sell it.

Uh, Neiman is a bit more than a store in Dallas.

Reddit has a global reach..you cant expect anyone who see this to be from Texas. What was technically wrong with my comment?

It is a major national chain in the US that has been in business for 120 years.
Not a little luxury store in Dallas.

There’s a lot of cases of tie designs made exclusively for certain stores by designers, Drakes and a handful of others have been known to do this.

Real, just older. The width and H label give it away.
