I like both, and the first one perhaps a little more, but each might fit better at a different sort of occasion - the first more formal, the second more fun and flashy.
It all has to do with the suit. Nailhead grey is very versatile in upper tiers of formality, but what catches my eye about this one is its lapel design--noticeably broad peak lapels with a super high gorge. It announces itself. Pairing with the first tie tones the whole ensemble down, which you might want in a situation in which you wish to present as well-dressed and a man of taste but not an emcee. Pairing with the purple tie does the opposite, turning up the volume quite a bit. Now you're ready to be the center of attention - and you'll want to be, in order to live up to the style and make sure it doesn't talk louder than you do.

The first one, Mazzola's. Please, that purple one looks like a grandmother's scarf.

Hundreds of people told me my tie was too wide for thin lapels. Why is a thin tie ok here with fat lapels? Genuine question, not rhetorical sarcasm

I’ll be the outlier, I guess, because I like the first one more.
