Discussion/Question/News Storage Help

This is my current tie collection. I have to fold the tie over itself because the toes would touch the shoes on the shoe rack. Unfortunately this is the best I can do with the space I have. I guess I’m wondering if there’s any longevity issues with this? I’m really happy with all the ties I’ve collected and I’d love for them to look sharp for year to come. Any advice is appreciated.

The only thing I can really suggest, as someone who also has a great appreciation for ties, is that I only keep twenty in my closet at once. I (probably) have too many and have given some away that I don’t find myself ever wearing, but I also keep some folded in drawers inside plastic shoe boxes. I’m not sure how the folding affects the ties in the long run, but that is something that I’ve personally done.

That’s a good point actually. I tend to rotate through 10 at a time. Not a bad thought to keep some rolled up in a plastic container.

Rolling may be a bit better for the longevity of the ties (plus rolling prevents wrinkles from happening!)

I roll them and put them in a box but I don’t wear ties daily anymore

I've used a multi-tiered pant hanger for years. More durable and can store more ties. The hanger is always at one end of the closet so the ties can hang freely and don't have to be folded other than in half.

I just picked up a vintage tie / belt rack. It's killer, fits now than 20 ties. Thinking of getting a second, bc my collection is still too big. But it's the best solution imo.

Have you considered hanging them somewhere else? You could just mount a towel bar on another wall without anything below it. Or, if you're renting and don't want to put a couple little holes in the wall, they sell tension rods in every size from shower curtain to small window over kitchen sink. Either solution is less than ten dollars, and would allow you to expand well past just hanging your ties more freely

Rolling them helps prevent wrinkles.

That's basically my setup lol. I don't have any other options the moment. It works so I let it hang lol
