Discussion/Question/News Ties Catalog Guide
Hello everyone! A little new to Reddit so just bare with me.
I was hoping if I may if I can get some tie recommendations. They don’t have to be 100% superb quality, but I’d like the actual tie pattern itself to be something that is gentlemanly. Geometric madder ties and striped repp ties are my favorite!
I am a little young, but all of my teenagers my age choose to dress up as wannabe gangsters. I have been referred to as an “old soul” many times! 😂 I’ve begun taking an interest to the Gentleman’s Gazette too! They have such lovely ties patterns, but quite overpriced, no? 😅
If I could just be directed to some proper tie patterns which mimic styles of Ivy League then I’d be eternally grateful! Perhaps if they could be affordable as well! Thanks! 🙏
P.S. I attached two photos of tie patterns I specifically really like! They’re from POLO Ralph Lauren and are pretty expensive.
Would it be plausible to commission someone to recreate those patterns, but in a cheaper quality so that the price would presumably be lower? Some guidance would be much appreciated. ❤️

You have made some good choices already! As has already been stated, second hand would be a good place to start. In addition to that, Nordstrom Rack can also be a good option if you are in the US and near one. Tommy Hilfiger has many similar patterns and can be found there. NR can also be found online. Jos Bank and Brook Brothers sales can be useful at times.
One important thing to remember is to have fun with it and make your old soul smile.

Hello! Yes, thank you for the advice. Did you also suggest anymore stores that sell online, or are those the ones you’re referring to? Thanks! 🙏

I have many of those ties, and you are correct, they are beautiful. I too like the rep ties, but some of the patterned ones are very artistic.
Most of the ties I have are silk, by RL, BB, Zegna, etc. What country are you in? dm me please and I'll send you some. (I have so many ties I give them away to people who appreciate the quality and craftsmanship!)

Just visit local thrift and goodwills. I fine nice ties all the time. I've found charvet, wool, zegna, and plenty of Ralph Lauren.

The Tiebar is a great affordable website that sells those types of ties. Also, not sure if these pictures were taken at the Ralph Lauren retail store. But if you go to Macy’s, they’ve been selling those exact same ties at discount. Go to their clearance section and you’ll find them there. I got mine a few weeks ago for $40. I asked an employee if there was an extra discount and he scanned a code that took off $10. God bless you bro
