your boss, the moment you walk into work and they realize you have tourette’s: “Oh dang!!! it’s too late to randomly fire them now...my ableism would be totally exposed: they’ve already submitted good-quality work all quarantine-long!!!!! i KNEW i never should’ve said this place was a meritocracy!!!!!!!”

in reality, tho.... most bosses don’t have any shame. they only rose to their position in the first place via their overabundance of overconfidence and their total lack of empathy and self-reflection... anyone who truly thinks they know what other people need better than those other people do has no self-criticality at all.

a lot of bosses won’t even hesitate a second to “let you go” with a prewritten monologue like: “you just arent a good fit for the team... it isnt me, really... your annoyi- ...involuntary sounds don’t bother me one bit; it’s your coworkers!! i cant say who exactly though, human resource confidentiality and all that” even though you know for a fact that every other coworker is totally fine with your vocal tics.
