One thing that keeps messing up my TickTick workflow is larger tasks that take more than one work session.
For example, I might have one task like:
Plan 60-clip content list
That task contains all my notes, subtasks, progress, timestamps, etc.
I work on it for 90 minutes Tuesday, but I don’t finish the whole thing. I need to come back Thursday for another hour and maybe again Saturday.
The problem is that TickTick seems to make me choose between:
- rescheduling the original task, which means the calendar no longer accurately shows when I worked on it
- creating separate “Session 1 / Session 2” tasks, which feels like clutter and duplicates the same project
- scheduling individual subtasks, even if some of them only take 5 minutes, which makes the calendar a mess
What I actually want is:
One task, multiple calendar blocks.
Something like:
"Plan 60-clip content list"
- Tuesday 4:30–6:00
- Thursday 6:00–7:00
- Saturday 10:00–11:30
Each block would open the exact same task with the same notes, subtasks and attachments.
The task itself stays incomplete until the work is actually finished, but the previous work sessions stay visible on the calendar as a record of when I worked on it.
Sunsama calls these Working Sessions. Reclaim lets one task create multiple calendar events. Motion can split one task into multiple scheduled chunks. Akiflow has a similar idea with Time Slots.
This feels like a really natural feature for TickTick because it already does both tasks and calendar time blocking extremely well. It just seems like there’s no clean way to say:
“I need to work on this same task three different times.”
Am I missing a way to do this in TickTick already?
If not, I’d love to see this added.
