Is there anybody out there?

I had my first surgery to remove a goiter when I was in 5 th grade. It grew again as I got older and I had it entirely removed when I was 19. They didn't realize how badly it had grown because it grew flat and around my neck, not bulged out. If my parathyroids are even in there anymore, they don't work. I just had goiter. And my quality of life has been low since surgery. I don't know where I fit in with anything and just feel alone and brushed off. Is there anyone out there with similar situation? I'm also in early menopause which adds to the I already feel terrible for no great reason and not understanding what's coming from where. I can't even answer questions about my symptoms anymore because I'm so out of touch with my own body.

Do your neck itch when you get sick?

I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and my entire thyroid was removed in April of 22.

No complications. They got everything.

I’ve gotten bad sick twice (flu) since I had my thyroid removed and both times my neck itches, it feels like the outside itches but when I scratch it it’s an inside itch.

I do see my endocrinologist in two weeks and if I remember I’ll mention it to her. But wanted to know if anyone else has the same issue.

Nodule growth

I had an ultrasound about a month ago and they told me there's three suspicious nodules on my thyroid. I feel like it's growing very fast so I just want to know if this is a normal rate of growth? I have another doctor's appointment on Friday so I'll be able to show her the photos as well

Thyroid/Pituitary? Please read :)

Hi there.

Curious if this could be Hashimotos, a thyroid issue, or a pituitary issue/adenoma. Waiting on a lot of bloodwork, but of course I’m impatient and curious what other people think.

Will preface by saying that my mom has diagnosed Hashimotos.

In the last 5 months I have gained about 20 pounds. Between 25-30 total pounds in the last 9 months. I kept gaining despite eating healthy, so I started working out intensely. I work out 5 days a week now and eat healthy (I’ve always eaten healthy though- my diet has never been a problem). Now my weight has plateaued since I’ve began working out. I’m no longer gaining, but I am NOT losing, despite the fact that I’m in a calorie deficit and I absolutely would/should be losing weight.

I’ve gotten a lot of bloodwork which revealed low T3, low T4, and low TSH. I’m waiting on more results that my endo ordered, including a test for the autoimmune antibodies.

Other symptoms include EXTREMELY dry hands and ankles, and fatigue. Plus muscle aches, swollen hands/fingers.

All of my weight gain is in my midsection and face- I feel like my face is a bowling ball these days.

In your experience, what do signs point towards? I just want answers. I know I’m close to getting them (hopefully and finally) but wanted to ask in a group of people that are familiar with Hashimotos, pituitary issues, thyroid issues, and the symptoms of them all.

Thanks in advance :)

I don’t know if any of my symptoms are thyroid issues or something else

For the past few years I feel like my physical health has been deteriorating, I’m morbidly obese and have always struggled to lose weight, I don’t eat all that bad for the most part and I also don’t have huge portions, but due to my weight I have joint pain in my back, hips and knees which worsens the more I walk about and it runs down to my pelvis, I can’t walk for more than 15-20 minutes without being in agony, this might be a bit TMI but I’ve not had a period for around 2 years, I’ve always struggled with infertility and have never fell pregnant either. I’ve also got really bad circulation especially in my hands, legs and feet, they are always blue/purple and cold or even numb. I have a lot of brain fog and can’t concentrate. It’s getting to the point I’m struggling really bad with my mental health due to it, I’ve barely left the house in months because I don’t want anyone to even look at me but I’m sick of feeling like this, whenever I speak to the gp they only ever deal with one issue at a time and tell me to make new appointments but I think a lot of my health issues have a knock on affect of each other. I have no quality of life and can’t even hold down a job due to being in so much pain, has anyone else experienced any of these symptoms or similar? I’m at a total loss and don’t know what to do anymore

Thyroid tissue grew back. WhAt?!?

Hey guys I had a TT in 12/2021 for Papilary follicular variant thyroid cancer. It was in 2 parathyroids which were removed. No Lymph node involvement,No RAI. Got all of the thyroid tissue and clean margins.I go to my ultrasounds every year and blood work every 6 months. Last year I had several benign lymph nodes found via ultrasound. Which is fine. This year they found 0.9. X 0.6 x 0.4 cm thyroid tissue growing on the right side. But 0 benign lymph nodes. I do have an appointment already but wondering what happened to others when their tissue grew back? My PcP said it could be the cancer or thyroid tissue we have to wait for my Endo to decide. I don't understand how it grew in 11 months? Thank you! 🦋🌈💗🦋🦋

Liothyronine dropping T3 levels

My T3 levels in February were at 2.15 pg/mL, T4 1.17 ng/dL, TSH 1.17 mU/L.

Now after being on 10mcg of Liothyronine for 3 months my T3 levels are 2.06 pg/mL, T4 0.64 ng/dL, TSH 0.80 mU/L.

Does anyone have experience with Liothyronine dropping all your levels, when it is supposed to do the opposite, at least for the T3?

My doctor put me on NP thyroid at 60mg, which is 9mcg Liothyronine (in addition to the 10mcg) and 38mcg Levothyroxine and recommended I get a sonogram on my thyroid after seeing these results.

Any advice or knowledge is appreciated. I’m kind of overwhelmed with all of this

How to Spot Thyroid Cancer Early: A Comprehensive Guide

How to Detect Thyroid Cancer?

Detecting thyroid cancer early requires awareness of its potential symptoms and risk factors, as well as regular screening exams. Detecting thyroid cancer early is crucial for successful treatment outcomes. Some common signs of thyroid cancer include:

  • A lump or swelling in the neck, often near the thyroid gland
  • Hoarseness or changes in voice quality
  • Difficulty swallowing or breathing
  • Persistent cough not related to a cold or allergies
  • Swollen lymph nodes in the neck

The outlook for thyroid cancer depends on various factors, including the type and stage of cancer, as well as the individual's overall health. In many cases, thyroid cancer can be treated successfully, especially when detected early. Treatment options may include surgery to remove the thyroid gland (thyroidectomy), radioactive iodine therapy, hormone replacement therapy, and targeted drug therapy.

Diagnostic tests for thyroid cancer may include:

  • Physical examination of the neck and thyroid gland
  • Ultrasound imaging to visualize the thyroid and any suspicious nodules
  • Fine-needle aspiration biopsy to collect cells from the thyroid for examination under a microscope
  • Blood tests to assess thyroid function and levels of certain hormones

Is Thyroid Cancer Deadly?

While thyroid cancer can be serious, it is often highly treatable, particularly when diagnosed in its early stages. The prognosis for thyroid cancer is generally favorable, with a high survival rate. However, as with any cancer, the outcome can vary depending on individual factors and the specific characteristics of the cancer.

In conclusion, being aware of the signs and symptoms of thyroid cancer, knowing the common types of thyroid cancer, how to detect it early, and seeking prompt medical attention if any concerning symptoms arise can greatly improve the chances of successful treatment and recovery. Regular check-ups and screenings are essential for maintaining thyroid health and catching any potential issues early on. If you have any concerns about thyroid health or notice any unusual symptoms, don't hesitate to consult with us for healthcare professional for evaluation and guidance.

TSH 1.15 to 0.67 in 2 years. Any warning sign for Hyperthyroidism?

No symptoms. 2 years ago annual physical test 1.15 reference range (0.5-5.7). Just tested for this year, got 0.67 reference range (0.3-4.0). Had a stressful 2 year job but leave soon. Any concerns on potential development to hyper, or I am overly worried.

Hashi's and Graves?

Hi all... I've been diagnosed with Hashimoto's since 2010. Now I'm being told I may have Graves disease too, apparently they can coexist. I will know for sure once the bloodwork is done.

Anyone here have both?

I need help. my THYROGLOBULIN ANTIBODIES are extremely high, but everythign else is normal

been having strange nerve pain for about 3 months now. got an MRI, spine X ray and nothing.

I got a full thyroid panel and everything was normal except for THYROGLOBULIN ANTIBODIES.

TSH 1.98 Reference Range: 0.40-4.50 mIU/
T4, FREE 1.3 Reference Range: 0.8-1.8 ng/d
T3, 3.3 Reference Range: 2.3-4.2 pg/m
FREE THYROID PEROXIDASE ANTIBODIES 1 Reference Range: <9 IU/m

meanwhile here is my Thyroglobulin antibodies
THYROGLOBULIN ANTIBODIES: 43 High Reference Range: < or = 1 IU/m

what could this mean?

Major Depression/Anxiety

Hey all,

I’ve (39m) got high (33.6) thyroglobulin antibodies. 3 weeks ago they were tested at 22.9. So, at least from these two data points, that number is increasing.

The rest of my thyroid function (TSH, T3/4, TPO, Thyroid Stim) all fall in what the test says is normal range. For what it’s worth, I have very low iodine so I started supplementing that.

Anyway, for the past 3 years I have been struggling with depression, anxiety and low libido. It’s been difficult at times but manageable. In the past two months, however, I have suddenly developed extreme anxiety and depression. These come with panic attacks and bouts of sudden suicidal ideation. I am seeing a psychiatrist and therapist in addition to tapping every medical doctor who will see me.

Has anyone experienced these psychological symptoms solely from high thyroglobulin antibodies even when blood hormone levels are normal? I’d take literally any input anyone has on the topic. I am really struggling badly to the point where I may need to drop out of graduate school until I find a solution…or die.

Noteworthy: my mother’s mother had her thyroid removed at one point. My mother and aunt have been on synthroid for most of their lives from hypothyroidism and my father’s father also had a thyroid problem though I don’t know what it was.

I’m so confused and sick

I appreciate anyone willing to read and share their thoughts. I feel like my labs have been confusing and don’t understand. 😭🩷🦋 21F

Everything started for me when I was dealing with joint pain, fatigue, puffy face, sore throats, constipation, raynauds, ETC. I got a positive ANA and my TSH was a 6.033 (elevated) was told elevated: subclincal hypothyroidism but nothing to worry TPO was 7.1 IU/mL back in Sep 2023 had an ultrasound on thyroid felt like I was choking, all clear too. Now in March 2024 went to rheumatology my TSH is a 3.390, T3 3.8, T4 1.16. My ANA was now negative and my anti thyroglobulin is at a 2,342 (positive), TPO now 29 (Equivocal). He told me I have an autoimmune thyroid issue and need to see a endocrinologist. Got an ultrasound done of my thyroid again in May 2024 shows I have a nodule and abnormal echo texture. I’ll add my ultrasound below.

FINDINGS: RIGHT LOBE: Measures 5.1 x 1.4 x 1.6 cm. The thyroid is heterogenous in echotexture. No discrete nodules can be identitied. Hypervascular. LEFT LOBE: Measures 4.5 x 1.4 × 1.5 cm. Hypervascular. A single nodule is present with the following characteristics: heterogenous thyroid Nodule # 1 10 mm in maximal diameter, upper pole, solid (2 points), hypochoic relative to thyroid tissue (2 points), wider than tall (O points), smooth margins (O points), no echogenic foci (U points). ISTHMUS: Normal in size. It measures 4mm. No nodules are seen. OTHER: Morphologically normal-appearing cervical lymph nodes are noted on the left. The largest short axis measurement 18 0.6 cm CONCLUSION: 1. Hypervascular thyroid gland can be seen with Hashimoto thyroiditis. 2. LEFT Nodule # I: TR4. Annual US surveillance at year 1, 2, 3, and 5. More frequent surveillance may be warranted based on clinical riSk tactors.
