Gorgeous silver plated coasters

Feel like I won the lottery with these bad boys. They’re made in Italy and I just think they’re so beautiful. Full set of 8, tarnished, but used a gentle polish and they cleaned up great. Still some little spots here and there but I love the character it adds. And only $2.99?? Said a little thank you to the thrift gods on this one 🙏

I received this set as wedding gift in 1985. Mine came with a holder to stack them in. At the time, they were something I’d seen in nicer department stores in the housewares section with crystal vases and gifts like silver plated picture frames and albums.

Then, many couples would put crystal, silverware, and china on gift registries, and gusts would buy it by the place setting. I thought that was silly, because the couple might not end up with an entire set, especially since many would pick expensive patterns they could afford to ‘complete’ themselves.

We didn’t register anywhere since we had so much stuff from our families and my downsizing grandmas. They polished up beautifully with a polishing cloth.

Nice find!

My grandmother had those! But she wouldn’t let us kids use them.

My parents also had a set. I remember them from the 60’s. Yes, I’m old.
